Sopore Gunfight- 2 Militants, 1 Trooper Killed, Search Ops Continue

August 03 Sajad Hameed/ Shabir Khan Two Militants and one trooper has been killed in a gunfight that raged between Militants and Government Forces at Behrampora area of Sopore in  North Kashmir’s Baramulla District. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 22 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. The Encounter started when Militants fired on a patrolling party of Government forces. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Massive Clashes Erupt in Pulwama

August 03 Massive clashes erupted in Pulwama town over the rumour of the killing of a local Militant in Sopore's Dursoo Bahrampora early morning on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets as soon as the news of the Local B.tech student who had joined Militants two days back spread in the area. The youth shouting pro Freedom slogans hurled stones on the Government Forces deployed in the area who retaliated with tear smoke shelling. Rumours have spread that the BTech student Khurshid Ahmad Malik son of Gh Nabi Malik resident of Arbal village of Pulwama who had gone missing a few days ago has been killed in the gunfight. However officials are yet to confirm anything in this regard.

August 02 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces at Behrampora of  Sopore area in North Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir police jointly launched the anti Militancy Operation. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that encounter has not started as being told by many. " There is a marriage party nearby, some fire crackers were burnt there," a local said. Meanwhile the Government Forces have launched a door to Door search operation in the locality following specific input about Militants presence there. Details emerging.

Engineering Student Goes Missing in Pulwama, May Have joined Militants

August 02 An Engineering student has gone missing from his home in Arabal Nikas in South Kashmir's Pulwama District since Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that youth identified as Khursheed Ahmed Malik son of Ghulam Nabi Malik left home early morning on Tuesday and since then there has been no trace of him. The family issued a video immediately urging their son to return home asking Khursheed to consider the ill health of his mother adding that if Khursheed is with anyone, they should let him go home on humanitarian basis. August 02 With the installation of special equipment for night hour aviation operations, the night landing will start at the Srinagar "International" Airport from August 10. As per reports, proposals were sent to all seven airline operating in the region but for now, just two will begin the process, but Initially GoAir and IndiGo have received the permissions to operate in evening hours. Kupwara Erupts Over Militant Killings

August 02 The Kalroosa and Chaiwan localities in North Kashmir's Kupwara district have erupted over the killing of local Militants on Thursday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth shouting Pro Freedom and Pro Militancy Slogans hit the Kupwara streets condemning the killing of Militants. The troops deployed in the area did not allow the youth to march ahead, responding to which the youth threw stones on Government Forces. The troops fired tear smoke shells to disperse the youth, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Two Militants identified as Bilal Ahmed Shah and Zahoor Ahmed Mir had been killed in a gunfight in Kupwara earlier in the day.
