Jammu Kashmir Police Continues Its War on Drugs

August 03 The Jammu Kashmir Police has in continuation of its untiring drive against the cultivation of contraband crops destroyed bhung cultivation spread to almost 30 Kanals of land at Matipora in Mattan area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district. Meanwhile the Police is Shopian has decided to launch a special drive to destroy bhang cultivation in the district for a complete week. The General Public at both the places has thanked the Jammu Kashmir Police for the initiative.

Khursheed- An Aspiring KAS Officer and a Militant for Two Days

August 03 The sojourn of Khurshid Ahmad Malik son of Gh Nabi Malik resident of Arbal village of Pulwama who was missing from last two days has ended in Drusoo sopore encounter. Khurshid as per family sources has completed his B Tech and was preparing for KAS. According to his family, Khursheed on Tuesday morning told them that he has to submit a form for KAS but did not return since then and his phone too was switched off. They later lodged his missing report at Police station Pulwama. His family members appealed every organisation to return khursheed home however he returned but only dead. Grenade Attack at Lal Chowk, Islamabad (Anantnag)

August 03 Suspected Militants hurled a Grenade on a Guard post of CRPF at SBI Lal chowk Branch in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) township. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that suspected Militants on a bike hurled a grenade on CRPF post in the bank and fired a gunshot also. However the Guards fired in in retaliation forcing the attackers to flee from the spot. As per initial reports, two troopers have been injured in the attack. Details emerging

August 03 The Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of Qazi Yasir has been arrested by Jammu Kashmir Police Just now from his office in South Kashmir after he issued a Hartal call on the anniversary of Slain Militant, Yawar Nisar on his first anniversary tomorrow (04/August/ 2018). The Mirwaiz of South Kashmir was also scheduled to lead a rally pro Freedom rally from Jamia masjid Islamabad. Mirwaiz Qazi yasir also paid glowing tributes to Yawar Nisar on his first anniversary. Kupwara Shuts to Mourn Militant Killings

August 03 The Kupwara District has shut down for the second consecutive day to mourn the killings of two Militants in the Khumriyal area of North Kashmir's Kupwara District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that shops, educational institutes and business establishments have shut in the area, while internet services have been barred by the Officials. Two Militants identified as Zahoor Ahmed Mir and Bilal Ahmed Shah, both residents of Kupwara were killed in a gunfight that raged in Khumriyal forests on Thursday.

Sopore Gunfight- 2 Militants, 1 Trooper Killed, Search Ops Continue

August 03 Sajad Hameed/ Shabir Khan Two Militants and one trooper has been killed in a gunfight that raged between Militants and Government Forces at Behrampora area of Sopore in  North Kashmir’s Baramulla District. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 22 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. The Encounter started when Militants fired on a patrolling party of Government forces. Massive Clashes Erupt in Pulwama

August 03 Massive clashes erupted in Pulwama town over the rumour of the killing of a local Militant in Sopore's Dursoo Bahrampora early morning on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets as soon as the news of the Local B.tech student who had joined Militants two days back spread in the area. The youth shouting pro Freedom slogans hurled stones on the Government Forces deployed in the area who retaliated with tear smoke shelling. Rumours have spread that the BTech student Khurshid Ahmad Malik son of Gh Nabi Malik resident of Arbal village of Pulwama who had gone missing a few days ago has been killed in the gunfight. However officials are yet to confirm anything in this regard.

August 02 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces at Behrampora of  Sopore area in North Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir police jointly launched the anti Militancy Operation. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that encounter has not started as being told by many. " There is a marriage party nearby, some fire crackers were burnt there," a local said. Urs of Revered Sufi Saint Observed in Ganderbal
