Spontaneous Shutdown, Clashes in Khudwani after Forces Arrest at least 7 Students

August 01 A Spontaneous Shutdown started in Khudwani and Quimoh areas of Kulgam district in South Kashmir on Wednesday after Government Forces allegedly arrested 7 youths in the locality. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that at least Seven college going youths were arrested near SKUAST Branch in Khudwani when they were on the way to home from college. "Forces deployed near Khudwani picked them up without any provocation," an eyewitness said. As the news spread through the area, shopkeepers in the area downed their shutter and youth came out on the streets. Militants Attack Indian Army During CASO- Flee from the Spot

August 01 Militants on Wednesday fired upon 34 RR of Indian Army in Chak e Cholan of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired upon a party of Indian Army when they laid a cordon and search operation in the village. The Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police were laying a CASO around the village when Militants fired upon the Forces and fled from the spot. Forces Thrash Another Civilian in Islamabad

August 01 The Government Forces on Wednesday assaulted a civilian identified as Arif Manzoor in Hangalgund of Kokernag area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the civilian who is the head of drivers Association in Hangalgund was picked up by a convoy of Indian Army from a sumo stand in Hangalgund. They alleged that he was later thrashed and found in the nearby Dandweth area of Koernag belt, but only after he had been mercilessly beaten by Indian Army. Gunmen Loot Cash from Quimoh Bank

KULGAM
August 31 Unknown Gunmen barged into a branch of State bank of India in Quimoh area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Wednesday afternoon and looted cash from there. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown gunmen decamped with cash from the SBI branch in Quimoh and fired aerial shots before running away from the spot. As per initial reports the Gunmen have looted at least 5 lakh INR from the Quimoh branch of SBI. The Jammu Kashmir Police has reached the spot and said that a group of six to eight Militants looted the cash at gunpoint.

Nocturnal Raids Continue in South Kashmir-2 More Arrested

August 01 Two Youth were arrested by Government Forces during a nocturnal raid at Seer in Tral division of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that two youth identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed wani and Peer Mushtaq were arrested when Government Forces raided the Seer locality late night on Tuesday. The Forces detained the youth and told the locals that they were being detained for questioning. The Locals said that the youth have not been released as of yet.

2 Sikh Girls Kidnapped in Chittisingpora, Rescued

August 01 Two Girls were kidnapped by unknown persons in a Skih Majority Village, Chittisinghpora in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Police Officials told The Kashmiriyat that two girls (names with held by The Kashmiriyat) were returning from school on Tuesday when unknown persons travelling in a Maruti car sprayed some chemical on their face. Following this the duo fell unconscious but when they regained their senses, they found themselves in Srinagar. Forces Assualt Driver in Islamabad, Locals Block National Highway

August 01 The Government Forces allegedly assaulted a driver on national Highway near Harnag in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag). Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that a driver was mercilessly assaulted by Indian Army early morning on Wednesday. Hundreds of locals later intervened and rescued the driver post which they raised Pro Freedom and Pro Islam Anti India slogans, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. They blocked the national Highway in protest against the merciless thrashing of the driver at the hands of Indian Army. The driver as per the locals has been shifted to the District hospital Islamabad for treatment. The protest was going on when this report was filed.

Man Dies After falling down from a tree

ISLAMABAD
August 01 A Man died after falling down from a poplar tree in Sipapora in Akingam area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district late evening on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Riyaz Ahmed Wani Son of Asad Wani, a resident of Asad Wani was trimming the poplar tree when he fell down. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, however upon reaching the hospital, he was declared 'brought dead' by the doctors. The deceased was laid to rest at his native village in Akingam area.
