Bullet Proof Vehicle Damaged in Militant Attack at Pulwama

PULWAMA
August 28 Suspected Militants triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) targeting a bulletproof vehicle in the wee hours of Tuesday in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said. They said the militants triggered the blast on Armulla-Gadbug road at 0300 hrs when a vehicle of Government Forces was passing the area. They said the vehicle was damaged in the blast. However, no one was injured, sources said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants. (UNI)

Forces Vandalize the house of a Militant in Quimoh

August 28 The Government Forces allegedly ransacked the house of a Militant Parvez Ahmed Bhat in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. A Family member while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that forces barged into the house and ransacked the household items and smashed the glasses inside the house. "We are not even sure if he has joined militants, why are we being harassed even if he has joined militancy?" a family member asked appealing Parvez to return home. Wedding Turns into Mourning- Bride Dies of a Heart Attack in Qazigund

August 27 SHEIKH NADEEM The celebrations at a marriage ceremony turned into a mourning on Monday when a bride died of heart attack in Qazigund area of South Kashmir. Locals informed The Kashmriyat that the marriage party was in full swing when the bride collapsed suddenly at her residence in Waltengoo area of Kund in Qazigund of South Kashmir. The bride was rushed to the nearby hospital at Razaloo from where she was referred to Qazigund hospital, however she succumbed on the way to the hospital. The deceased bride has been identified as Rafiqa daughter of Rajwali Deeda, a resident of Waltengoo- Nard, Kund in South Kashmirs Qazigund area. (The Kashmiriyat)

Army Organise Medical Camp In Shopian Village

August 27 The Indian Army organized a Medical Camp at Chillipora village in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday in which dozens of people were given free medical assistance. In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, The Army said, "The medical team provided free consultation to the locals of Chillipora and neighbouring villages on various health related issues including Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Respiratory and Skin related problems." They said that A total of 129 individuals including 73 male, 24 female and 32 children were examined and provided free medicines by the medical staff. (The Kashmiriyat)

August 27 The Chinar Corps CDR along with Inspector General of Jammu Kashmir Police (IGP), SP Pani today visited Pahalgam and congratulated the forces for a incident free Yatra. 15 Boys Left Militancy, South Kashmir Limping back to Normalcy, Says IGP

August 27 The Inspector General of Police SP Pani on Monday said that over 15 boys from South Kashmir have shun the path of militancy from past couple of months with the active role and support of their family members. He said police will help those youth in every possible way who want to join mainstream. “The graph of violence has come down drastically in some of the militancy affected areas of South Kashmir,” Pani told news agency CNS. “Yesterday, four youth were arrested in frontier district Kupwara when they were trying to ex-filtrate. We are questioning them and hopefully after counseling they will be rehabilitated,” he said. He also claimed that Little by little, some restive parts of South Kashmir are limping back towards normalcy.

No Leaves to Policemen from South Kashmir

August 27 With the militant attacks on policemen on leave witnessing a surge in south Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Police have asked the Police Training Schools in the state not to grant any leave to trainees from the region. In an order to the principals of the Trainning Schools in the state, the Senior Superintendent of Jammu Kashmir Police for Pulwama has written, "In view of the prevailing militancy scenario, no permission/ leave may kindly be granted to the recruit constables of District Pulwama who are presently undergoing BRTC (Basic Recruitment Training Course) in your respective training schools/centres.” Sources informed that a similar order has been issued from other districts of south Kashmir to the principals of police training schools. Three Killed by a Gunman at a Video Game Tournament in U.S

August 27 On Sunday, a shooting occurred during a Madden 19 Tournament at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida. The shooter was confirmed dead after killing three people and injuring at least 9, according to unofficial reports. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Department called the incident a "mass shooting" in a tweet, noting in a news conference that the shooter, a white male, was alone and was confirmed dead. The Jacksonville Sheriff announced later that three people were found dead at the scene of the shooting, including the suspect. There were also 9 people wounded. The suspect was identified by the police as a 24-year old David Katz from Baltimore. The police added that the shooter used at least one handgun.
