Clashes Erupt in Sopore after Fresh Petition Against 35A

August 27 SHABIR KHAN clashes erupted in sopore main Chowk on Monday following the new petition that was filed by BJP Spokesman, Ashwini Upadhyay on Monday demanding the revoking of Article 35A. August 27 Petrol and Diesel shortage has hit many places of the Kashmir valley including the districts of Islamabad (Anantnag), Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam. Many people complained of oil stations refusing to fill oil due to the shortage of petrol and diesel on the oil stations. "We do not know why, but they refused to fill in my car with petrol, they said they have no oil in the station," a local Nadeem Ahmed told The Kashmiriyat. August 27 The personnel from CRPF allegedly ransacked the Jamia Masjid of Islamabad district at Reshi Bazar area in South Kashmir's Islamabad township on Monday. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that scores of troopers from CRPF hurled rocks on the Jamia Masjid and broke the window panes of the central mosque here. The Police said that during a Naka checking at Manihal Imamsahib, a Police party of Police post Imamsahib intercepted a truck bearing Reg no .JK03B 7911. On being intercepted, the driver of the said truck jumped from the truck and fled from spot. On checking the said truck, a huge quantity of Poppy straw like material, packed in Nylon bags was recovered, which on weighing was found 92 kgs. Supreme Court Adjourns hearing on Fresh Petition against 35 A

August 27 The Supreme Court of India has not taken up a fresh plea challenging Article-35A today following adjournment request by the petitioner. Another petition seeking the scrapping of Article-35A has been filed by a Delhi-based NGO “We the Citizens”., which is due to be heard on August 31. The petition listed for hearing was dropped by the Apex Court after an adjournment letter was moved by the petitioner Ashewani Upadhyay. Article 35A was added to the Constitution of India guarantees special status to Jammu Kashmir.
