Zojila receives First Snowfall of the Season

September 15 Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh road received season’s first spell of light snowfall on Saturday morning MeT said one inch of fresh snow had accumulated around the 11,600 ft high pass. However, the traffic on the Srinagar-Leh highway was plying normally. The Local MeT Has predicted cold and unstable weather on Saturday, with possibility of thunderstorms and heavy snowfall.

Islamabad Civilian Killed in Firing of Forces in Qazigund

September 15 A youth has been Killed in firing near the gunfight site in Czogam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Rouf Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Salam Ganie, a resident of Anchidoora was hit by a bullet in his throat during the clashes that erupted following an encounter in the Czogam, Qazigund area. He was referred to Srinagar, however he succumbed on the way to hospital. Hundreds of people have gathered at the house of Rouf Bashir as his body has reached back to his native. Youth Goes from Chrar e Shareef Area, Family Demands Whereabouts

September 15 A 22 year old youth from Charar e Shareef area of Central Kashmir has gone missing from his home since thursday. Mohammed Iqbal Rather son of Abdul Khaliq Rather, a student of BSc Nursing at Sher e Kashmir institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar went missing on Thursday. Friends of iqbal who held a protest demonstration at Srinagar today told The Kashmiriyat that there has been no trace of Iqbal since Friday. The family of Iqbal has also sought the help of Police who say that Iqbal has not been detained by the Forces. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that they are trying to locate Iqbal.

Spontaneous Shutdown in Islamabad, Kulgam Areas

September 15 A Spontaneous shutdown is being observed in most of the parts of South Kashmir's Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) Districts on Saturday as an encounter has raged between Militants and Government Forces in Qazigund area of South Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that shops, business establishments in both the districts have shut following the killing of Local Militants in the encounter. Many Educational institutes in both the Districts have been closed for the day and mobile internet has been shut as a 'precautionary measure' in both the districts. Railway Services to and From South Kashmir have been suspended by Railway authorities.

Hundreds Gather in Fatehpora, As Rumours of Killing of Local Militant Spread

September 15 Thousands of grieving women and men have gathered in the Fatehpora area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag)district as the rumours of a local Militant getting killed in Kulgam Gunfight. Women and men in large numbers are marching towards Fatehpora , the native of Masroor Ahmed Bhat of Lashkar e Taiba village as the news of his killing spread in the area. Masroor pertinently had joined Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba in May this year, after which his photo went viral over the Social networking websites. Section 144 Imposed in Kulgam

September 15 The authorities have imposed section 144 in parts of Kulgam district of South Kashmir following an encounter that raged in Czogam area of Kulgam early morning on Friday. Five Militants have been killed in the Encounter, all of them are believed to be locals. However despite section 144 being imposed people have gathered in large numbers near the encounter site in Czogam and in Sopat areas of Kulgam. Massive clashes are also going on in Churath area of Qazigund in Kulgam. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973 empowers an executive magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than four persons in an area.

CASO launched in Islamabad (Anantnag) Area

September 15 The Government Forces on Saturday morning launched a cordon and search operation in the Aang Matipora area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday, the forces including 1 RR of Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Aang area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Islamabad locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Five Militant Bodies Recovered From Qazigund Gunfight Site- Officials

September 15 Five Militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight at Matipora Czogam area of Qazigund area of South Kashmir's Kulgam early morning on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 9RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched a CASO in the area late night on Friday. During the CASO the holed up Militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight after which reinforcements were rushed to the spot. The Militants were holed up inside the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie near to Government Primary school in Czogam area of South Kashmir. September 15 Firing has resumed at the gunfight site in Czogam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district early morning on Saturday, Police officials told The Kashmiriyat. ALSO READ: Kashmir Gunfight- 3 Militants Bodies Recovered, Search Ops Continue They said when the forces were conducting a search operation Militant opened fire from another house on the Government Forces. So far three Militant including a top commander of Hizb is believed to be trapped at the encounter site.
