Intense Stone Throwing Clashes Erupt near Encounter Site

September 15 Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in Cozgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. Three Militant bodies have been recovered from the gunfight site, official sources told The Kashmiriyat. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to immense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. People in large numbers from adjacent areas including Sopat are trying marching towards the encounter site.  

Kashmir Gunfight- 3 Militants Bodies Recovered, Search Ops Continue

September 15 Three Militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight at Matipora Czogam area of Qazigund area of South Kashmir's Kulgam early morning on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 9RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched a CASO in the area late night on Friday. During the CASO the holed up Militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight after which reinforcements were rushed to the spot. The Militants were holed up inside the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie near to Government Primary school in Czogam area of South Kashmir. September 15 An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in Chowgam of Qazigund area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. 2-3 Militants are believed to be trapped in the area, Local sources told The Kashmiriyat. September 14 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Tiken area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Late afternoon on Friday, the forces including 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Tiken area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Pulwama locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. September 14 Shabir Khan A complete shutdown is being observed on Friday in many areas of North Kashmir against the killing of Militants in the areas. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Sopore has shut for the second consecutive day against the Militant killings, while a partial shutdown is being observed in Handwara and Langate areas for the fourth consecutive day. Two Local Militants had been killed on Tuesday in a gunfight in Kupwara and on Thursday, two Foreign Militants were killed in a gunfight in Sopore post which authorities suspended internet and closed down the schools. September 14 A CASO has been launched in Lone Mohallah, Batpora and Malpora localities of Turkwangam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Friday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police laid down the Search operation jointly. Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers that quality seed availability should be ensured in all the districts of the Kashmir Division well in time, so that farmers may not face any hardships.
