Kashmir police announces reward for deserter SPO

September 29 The Jammu Kashmir police on Friday announced a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of an SPO, who fled with seven rifles and a pistol from the house of a lawmaker here. A police spokesman said that Rs 2 lakh reward will be given to anyone who gives information about the deserter cop and the weapons. SPO Aadil Bashir posted as security guard with senior PDP leader and MLA Wachi decamped with seven service rifles and a pistol from the Jawahar Nagar residence of the lawmaker sending the entire security grid in a tizzy.

September 28 A special Police officer of Jammu Kashmir Police decamped with nine rifles late night on Friday from Guard room at J 11 at Government Quarters Jawar Nagar area in Srinagar. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a cop presently posted as PSO (personal security official) of PDP MLA Wachi ran away with 9 rifles of cops late night on Friday. The said cop who ran away with 7 Ak 47, 1 Insas Rifle and 1 Pistol was deployed for the security of MLA of Shopian South Kashmir. 772 Candidates file Nomination for Municipal Polls in four Districts of Jammu Kashmir

September 28 As many as 772 candidates filed their nominations in Kathua, Udhampur, Doda and Ramban districts of Jammu and Kashmir for the second phase of urban local body (ULB) elections on the last day of filing nominations, election officials said Friday. Nominations were filed by 380 candidates in Kathua district Thursday, followed by 198 in Udhampur district, 120 in Doda district and 74 in Ramban district. The candidates have filed nominations for five municipal committees and one municipal council of the district, the officials said, adding 266 men and 114 women are in fray for the polls.
