45 Year old Woman Dies After a Tree Branch Falls on Her

September 04 Rayees Shah A woman who was critically wounded on Monday after a falling tree branch fell down on her, succumbed at SKIMS Soura on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Saja Begum of Wussan Kangan succumbed to her injuries after suffering head injury when a tree branch fell on her at Chek Wussan in Kangan on Monday. Major Search Operation Launched in Rajouri

September 04 Government forces on Tuesday launched a major search operation in Langer village located close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera area of Rajouri district of Jammu Kashmir. A police official said that the students of a local school reported that they saw some suspects roaming in maize fields after which local villagers reported the matter to the police. September 04 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf's (PTI) Dr Arifur Rehman Alvi has been elected the 13th President of Pakistan, according to provisional results. The counting of the votes has finished and the tabulation of the results is under way. The Election Commission of Pakistan is scheduled to announce official results tomorrow. However, provisional results have already been announced. Alvi, according to unofficial results, has edged out PML-N backed chief of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), Fazlur Rehman and senior PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan in the presidential race by garnering the most number of votes in five of the six leading parliamentary bodies in the country.

DC Srinagar orders Installation of CCTV Cameras in Prominent Masjids, Shrines

September 04 The District magistrate of Srinagar, Syed Abid Shah has ordered that CCTV Cameras be installed in all important places of worship in the Srinagar City. The Order copy to Jammu Kashmir Muslim Wakf board instructs them to ensure installation of CCTV cameras in and around the prominent shrines, mosques and temples in the district. Sources reveal that the order has been issued to keep a vigil towards untoward incidents around important places of worship in Srinagar.

Jammu Kashmir Police Seizes Alcohol Bottles in Pahalgam

September 04 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have seized 57 bottles of alcohol from Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that during a patrol laid down by Jammu Kashmir Police, they recovered huge quantity of Rum and Whiskey, which was being illegally transported. While talking to The Kashmiriyat Station House Officer Pahalgam confirmed that some alcohol has been recoveered from a vehicle. He said that the Police is investigating the matter and will ascertain the facts soon.

Lady dies of Electrocution- 3rd Incident in North Kashmir since yesterday

September 04 Shabir Khan A women identified as Aisha begum died due to electrocution on Tuesday in Khawaja bagh are of North Kashmir's Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the lady was repairing an electric wire when she was electrocuted after which she was rushed to the hospital. Upon reaching the hospital, the doctors declared her 'brought dead.' Aisha Begum of Khawaja Bagh Baramulla is third person to have died of electrocution in North Kashmir since Monday evening.

Massive CASO Launched in Kulgam Area

September 04 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in the Czader area of Quimoh belt in South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Tuesday afternoon. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched an Anti Militancy operation in the area. They said that following an input about Militant movement in the Czader area, the troops immediately rushed to the spot. Locals Meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that the forces have blocked all the entry and exit points to the area and a massive search operation has started. Pertinently czader area of Kulgam is the region where Shakoor Ahmed Dar, the famous Militant commander was killed in a gunfight with forces on 24 June this year.

Drugs Worth 100 Crore Seized in Kathua

September 04 The Jammu Narcotics Control Bureau Tuesday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of heroin and arrested four people in this connection. It recovered over 22 kg heroin and Rs 17 lakh cash form them. Three Kashmiri residents were arrested here for smuggling heroin worth Rs 100 cr from Handwara town in the state to Punjab. The person who was to receive the contraband was also nabbed from the neighbouring state, Virender Yadav, the zonal director of the Jammu NCB, told reporters. He said a private car was intercepted at Pali Morh on Sunday and its search led to the recovery of 22.145 kg heroin.
