Forces Launch CASO in Shopian Area

October 31 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Lasendow area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. On late noon on Wednesday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Shopian area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. A search operation was going on when this report was being filed.

Forces Barge into Shopian Area, Thrash Locals

October  31 The Government Forces on Wednesday  morning barged into the Memandar area of South Kashmir's Shopian District and thrashed several locals in the area, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Locals alleged that the vehicles forces early morning on Wednesday appeared on the Memandar roads and started thrashing locals to pulp without any provocation,. "A local preacher was severely thrashed," a local from Memandar said. Thousands Attend Funeral of Tral Militant, Militants Offer Gun Salute

October 31 Thousands of people on Wednesday reached Tral to participate in the funeral prayers of a local Jaish e Muhammad militant who was killed in an encounter  in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that thousands of people defying the morning cold thronged the native of Showkat Ahmad Khan in Handoora Tral to attend the funeral of the slain Militant. Locals said that the charred body of Showkat was recovered from the encounter site in Chankitar village of Tral on Tuesday evening. “Four round of funeral prayers were offered by tens of thousands of people for the slain militant,” eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat. October 31 The Jammu Kashmir Police said that two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists killed in the Pulwama district encounter. The slain Militants were identified as Showkat Ahmad Khan from Tral's Handoora and Pakistan's Mohammad Usman, nephew of Masood Azhar, the founder and leader of JeM.
