October  25 One Militant has been Likely killed in the ongoing encounter that started between Militants and Government Forces in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla District early morning on Thursday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 29 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. South Kashmir Shuts for Fifth Consecutive Day, At least 10 Arrested in Nocturnal Raids

October 25 A complete shutdown in being observed across South Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday against the ongoing killing spree in the Kashmir Valley. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Pulwama, Islamabad (Anantnag), Kulgam and Shopian have shut for the fifth consecutive day to mourn the killings of civilians and Militants. Seven Civilians and three Militants were killed on Sunday in the laroo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District after which a spontaneous shutdown was observed in the area. On Wednesday two more Militants including Sabzar Ahmed Sofi, popular Hizb Militant was killed in a gunfight in Srinagar. Meanwhile at least nine youth were arrested by the government forces in a nocturnal raid in the Darshaloo area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. ...

People Try to March Towards Encounter Site in Baramulla, Intense Clashes Erupt

October 25 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. People in large numbers from adjacent areas shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans are trying marching towards the encounter site. Meanwhile Mobile and Internet Services have been barred in North Kashmir's Baramulla District.

October 25 A CASO has been launched by government forces at Gadhapora area of Ratnipora in South Kashmir’s Shopian District on Thursday early morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and SOG of JK Police laid down the Search operation jointly. “The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Official sources said. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.

October 24 A CASO has been launched by government forces at Dever area Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District on Wednesday late night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 28RR of Indian Army, 162 battalion of CRPF and SOG of JK Police laid down the Search operation jointly. “The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Official sources said. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.  

Stone Throwing Clashes in Islamabad (Anantnag) area, Locals Allege Vandalization

October 24 Intense Stone throwing clashes erupted between Government Forces and youth in the Brakpora area of Islamabad (Anantnag) District on Wednesday evening. Board Exams as Per Schedule in Kashmir Valley tomorrow

October 24 The Board exams for class 8th and 12th will be held as per schedule tomorrow, Director School Education told The Kashmiriyat. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone Ghulam Nabi Itoo said that the exams will be held as per schedule tomorrow and there will be no postponement of exams in any area. Al-Umar asks contestants of recently held polls in JK to resign within 40 days

October 24 Al-Umar Mujahideen, a militant outfit on Wednesday said that the armed struggle was the only solution to resolve the Kashmir issue. According to tele-statement issued by Al-Umar chief, Mushtaq Zargar said that “the India occupied Jammu Kashmir forcibly in the year 1947 and are committing atrocities on people. The Kashmir issue can only be resolved through armed struggle.” He also asked the candidates who participated in recent elections to resign within 40 days, saying “we have the list of candidates who participated in recent elections held in Jammu and Kashmir. We warn them to resign within 40 days.” “We also warn the informers to seek forgiveness for their doings,” he said.
