Two Youth Injured During Gun Salute in Sangam

October 24 Two youth have been injured in accidental fire when Militants offered gun salute to slain Hizb Militant and a Ph.D Scholar, Sabzar Ahmed Sofi in Naina area of South Kashmir's Sangam. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that two youth have been injured when Militants were followed by a large crowd at the site of the funeral. The Militants accidentally fired towards the crowd when the public surrounded them in large numbers, which resulted in injuries to two persons, they said. Both of them have been injured and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. A group of five to six Militants led by popular Militant commander, Zeenat ul Islam had reached the site of the funeral of Sabzar Ahmed to offer gun salute to their slain colleague.

October 24 Massive Clashes erupted between youth and Government Forces in the Nowgam area of Srinagar District on Wednesday after the killing of two Militants in the area. Sources told The Kashmriyat that youth in large numbers hit the streets and threw stones on vehicles of Government Forces who retaliated with intense tear smoke shelling. Meanwhile youth in hundreds poured onto the streets as the news of the killing of Dr. Sabzar spread in the area, people in droves of hundreds and thousands blocked the national highway near Sangam. Thousands Gather at the House of Ph.D Scholar Sabzar in Sangam

October 24 Thousands of people including women have gathered outside the house of Sabzar Ahmed Sofi in the Naina area of Sangam in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District on Wednesday as the news of him being killed in the encounter at Srinagar has spread in the area. Unknown Gunmen Ransack the house of Three Policemen in South Kashmir

October 24 Unknown gunmen late night on Tuesday ransacked the house of three brothers working in the Jammu Kashmir Police Department in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that at least three unknown gunmen barged into the house of a policemen identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Thokar at Paddarpora area in Kulgam and ransacked the house. “There were only little girls present in the house. The gunmen ransacked the house and left away,” the said. Mushtaq Ahmed has three sons working in the police department, two of whom area posted in Ladakh Division while one at Bandipora district. A police official said that they are verifying if anything as such has happened.

Hurriyat Calls for Kulgam Chalo tomorrow

October 23 The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a march to south Kashmir’s Kulgam district tomorrow to pay homage to seven civilians killed in a blast in Laroo village on Sunday. The leadership has also called for a shutdown on October 27. In a statement, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik appealed to people in general and those living in south Kashmir in particular to march to Kulgam tomorrow in solidarity with the families of seven civilians killed in Kulgam blast. Class 12th English paper Postponed to November 02

October 22 The Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education (BOSE) has rescheduled today’s class 12th  examination of English paper to November 02. JKBOSE had postponed today’s class 12th exam in view of the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The spokesman of JKBOSE said: “The examination of English paper which was scheduled to be held on October 22 and was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances in the valley shall now be held on November 02 (Friday).”

Rajnath to visit Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday

October 22 Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday during which he will review the security situation in the state and interact with political leaders, officials said.
