A Day of Mourning and Funerals in Kulgam

October 22 The Southern Kashmir District of Kulgam has poured onto the streets and the fields to bury their seven among the eight dead who were killed during a gunfight that erupted in Laroo area of Southern Kashmir's Kulgam District early morning on Sunday. Thousands attended the funeral prayers of nine people, who were killed in Laroo area of Kulgam during the gunfight and in clashes which erupted near encounter site at in the area on Sunday. A large number of people turned up at Shurath village in to participate in the funeral prayers of Irshad Ahmed of Shurat Kulgam. Local residents informed that two rounds of funerals were offered for the young men amidst pro-freedom and anti Indian Slogans. October 22 A Skih Social and Religious Organisation, Gurmat Taksal (IGS) Jammu Kashmir has strongly condemned the killing of 'innocent civilians' in kulgam and said that they share grief of the family and stand with them in this need of hour. They said that The bloodshed in Kashmir should end for once and all. "It pains to see Kashmiris are loosing their near and dear ones since decades," adding that, "the sikhs of Kashmir always stand with their Muslim brethren." They said that Kashmir is a disputed territory and it should be resolved according to aspirations of kashmiri people. October 22 Restrictions have been imposed in most of the towns in the Kashmir valley on Monday against the killing of ten people on Sunday From Kulgam Mohammed Ashraf Ganie reported that thousands of women and men are seen flocking the houses of the seven slain youth who were killed in Army firing yesterday. He said that despite strict restrictions, a large number of people are visiting the Kulgam areas to pay their tributes to the slain youth. Imran Khan Condemns Kashmir Killings

October 22 The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan on Monday condemned the killings of “innocent Kashmiris” and said that India must resolve the Kashmir dispute. He said through dialogue and keeping the wishes of the Kashmiri people in view Kashmir issue must be resolved. The Pakistan premier tweeted: “Strongly condemn the new cycle of killings of innocent Kashmiris in IOK by Indian security forces. It is time India realised it must move to resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue in accordance with the UN SC resolutions & the wishes of the Kashmiri people.” Pertinently 10 Kashmiris including 7 civilians were killed in Kulgam on Sunday.

October 22 World Famous Islamic Organization, Minhaj ul Quran's Kashmir wing has expressed grief over the gruesome tragedy of Kulgam where seven civilians were killed in a single day. The District President of the organization, Sheikh Sajad Ahmad on Monday strongly condemned the killings in south Kashmir’s Kulgam. He said, “our youth are being slaughtered like animals and entire Valley is in shock and state of mourning over the Killing of seven civilians in Laroo Kulgam." Kulgam Locals Continue Demanding Removal of Army Camp- Intense Clashes Erupt

October 22 People including women on Monday morning hit the streets of Redwani locality in Quimoh belt of South Kashmir's Kulgam amid pro Independence slogans demanding the removal of Army camp recently established in the locality. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that scores of men and women on Monday morning came out on the streets shouting pro independence and Anti India slogans to demand the removal of an Army camp of 1 RR of Indian Army recently set up in Redwani Bala. Government Force Personnel Injured in Tral Militant Attack Succumbs

October 21 The SSB Personnel who was injured in the Tral Grenade attack has succumbed to his injuries after unknown persons hurled a grenade on a camp of CRPF Camp in Midoora area of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons hurled a grenade inside the camp of 180 Battalion of CRPF injuring one SSB Personnel who was immediately rushed to the hospital. The SSB personnel identified as Constable Vijay Kumar succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

JKBOSE, IUST Postpone Exams Scheduled for Tomorrow

October 21 JK Board Of School Education on Sunday postponed examinations scheduled tomorrow, heeding to the concern expressed by the students following the killing of seven civilians in Kugam. “The examination scheduled tomorrow (October 22) stands postponed and fresh examination dates will be announced later,” Chairperson/ Secretary Board Of School Education Veena Pandit said. Meanwhile, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora announced that all examination scheduled tomorrow stand postponed. “New dates shall be notified,” the IUST said in a statement issued here. Nocturnal CASO Launched in Shopian Area

October 21 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Kunsoo locality of Imam Sahib Area in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Late on Sunday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Kunsoo area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Militant Attack in Tral

October 21 Unidentified persons hurled a grenade on a camp of CRPF Camp in Midoora area of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons hurled a grenade inside the camp of 180 Battalion of CRPF injuring one CRPF Personnel who was immediately rushed to the spot. The troopers fired in retaliation forcing the attackers to run away from the spot. The forces have launched  a massive manhunt to nab the attackers. Details Emerging.
