CASO Launched in Shopian Area

November 23 The Government Forces on Friday launched a cordon and search operation in Golgura of Pinjoora area in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. 6 Militants Reportedly Killed in the Ongoing Bijbehara Encounter

November 23 Six Militants have been Killed in an encounter that broke out  early morning encounter between militants and government forces in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of army's 3 RR and Jammu Kashmir Police had sealed all the entry and exit points to the area after launching a cordon and search operation in Sekipora around 2 am. During the searches the holed up militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter. Encounter Rages in Bijbehara

November 23 An early morning encounter broke out between militants and goverment forces in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of army's 3RR and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Sekipora around 2 am. During the searches the holed up militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter. SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan told a news agency that contact had been established with militants. "Two to three Militants are trapped in a residential house at Sekipora area and massive exchange of gunfire was on," sourc3s told The Kashmiriyat. Details emerging.

Militants Attack Army Camp in Khudwani, Lady Injured

November 22 Suspected Militants on Thursday attacked a camp of Indian Army in the Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired shots towards the camp of 1 RR at Khudwani, however the Army men posted at the camp fired retaliatory shots. This prompted the Attackers to escape the spot. As per initial reports one lady identified as Muskan Jan, a resident of Wanigund was injured in the exchange of Gunfire. Hafeezullah had Spent 14 Years in Jail, A Profile of the Hurriyat Activist Shot Dead in Day Light

Hafeezullah, who hailed from Akingam area of Achabal in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District was shot dead by unknown gunmen outside his home on Tuesday morning. Machil in Kupwara records 78 Percent Voting at 1 PM

November 20 Machil block of Kupwara district recorded 78% voter turnout  till 1 pm in the ongoing Panchayat Polls in the state. According to officials the total vote cast in Machil were 3475 including 1921 male and 1554 female voters. In Rajwar block the voter turnout till 1 am was 74.9% with 9476 total number of votes cast. According to officials in Block Kalaroos the vote percentage was 59.4%.

Militants Killed Hurriyat Leader Hafeezulah, Claims Police

November 20 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed that the militants killed the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader in Budroo area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Police as per a statement said that the militants barged inside the residential house of Hafezullah Mir at Budoora Achabal and fired indiscriminately at him. “In this incident, Hafeezullah sustained critical gunshot wounds and was evacuated to a nearby hospital where he succumbed.” Mir was district president of the pro-freedom organization Tehreek e Hurriyat led by Geelani.
