Kashmir- October Witnessed 52 People Causalities

November 14 52 Causalities took place across the Kashmir valley in the month of October, According to police statistics. Among the dead, 28 were militants, 14 civilians, three policemen, a paramilitary SSB man, an ASI of CISF and five Army men. Three Government Force personnel were killed in sniper firing by Jaish-e-Mohammad militants. Taliban Kill 12 Afghan Forces

November 14 The Taliban have killed 12 Afghan security forces which includes nine soldiers after they opened fire on them in the Maidan Wardak province near Kabul, Afghan officials said Hekmat Durani, spokesman for the provincial police chief, says the nine were killed in the Sayed Abad district, and that another three soldiers were wounded. He says five insurgents were killed in the exchange late Tuesday. Jawad Hajri, spokesman for the governor of the northeastern Takhar province, says the Taliban attacked police there, killing three and wounding another three. The Taliban, who in recent years have taken over nearly half the country, claimed responsibility for both the attacks.

Fayaz Sodagar Wins Bar Elections for the 6th Time in Islamabad (Anantnag)

November 14 Pro Freedom lawyer, Advocate Fayaz Ahmed Sodagar has been appointed as the President of the bar council of Islamabad (Anantnag) for the sixth time. In the freshly concluded elections  Advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar has been elected as President of Bar Association while Muzamil Ahmad Rather has been elected as secretary. Fayaz Sodagar defeated his rival candidate Abid Mushtaq Malik while as Muzammil Rather defeated Mubashir Ahmad Shah for the post of the Secretary. Masrat Alam Booked Under 37th PSA

November 14 The incarcerated Hurriyat Leader Masarat Alam Bhat was on Wednesday shifted to Hira Nagar jail Jammu after authorities booked him under the fresh Public Safety Act (PSA). The fresh orders, incidentally 37th in the series, were passed Wednesday morning by the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, a spokesperson of his party Muslim League said. After being slapped with 37th PSA, which is a world record, Masarat Alam was shifted to Hira Nagar Jail in Jammu, Ayoubi said. Masarat Alam, who spearheaded the 2010 agitation, was arrested in October same year, he was released in 2015, however rearrested shortly.

JRL Calls For Complete Shutdown on November 17

November 14 The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir on November 17 against the panchayat polls. The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik urged people to observe shutdown against the Polls being conducted on the 17 November. The leadership asked the people to reject and boycott the Panchayat polls in the same way they rejected the Urban Local Bodies polls by staying indoors.

Bandipora-Gurez Road Closed for traffic after snowfall at Razdan Pass

November 14 Shabir Khan Authorities on Tuesday suspended traffic movement on Bandipora-Gurez road following fresh snowfall at Razdan Pass. The traffic movement was suspended as a ‘precautionary measure’ as there was moderate snowfall going on at Razdan Pass since Tuesday morning. Due to the moderate snowfall the Bandipora-Gurez has become slippery and to avoid any untoward incident, all sorts of vehicular movement on the road has been suspended, It was also snowing in Dawar, Kanzalwan, Bagtore and Tulail areas of Bandipora since today morning.

Shopian to Shut Down on November 20 Against Shortage of Basic Facilities

November 14 TMBS(Traders and manufacturers Body) of shopian has called for shopian Bandh on 20 November against authorities not to provide basic facilities during the 'harsh winter'. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the members of the body said that the Government has failed to provide basic amenities of people of Shopian during the harsh winter. 200 Militants Killed in 2018, 109 in South Kashmir

November 14 At least 200 Militants including locals have been killed this year during Anti Militancy operations by Government Forces in 2018 so far. Most of the slain Militants belonged to the Militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba (LeT), the exact number of LeT Militants killed stand at 53. One of the oldest Surviving Militants of Lashkar e Taiba Showkat Ahmed Tak and popular South Kashmir commander, Shakoor Ahmed Dar are included in the list of 53 slain lashkar Militants. Passenger Vehicle Collides with a Truck in Pampore

November 14  A passenger vehicle on Wednesday met an accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pampore area of Pulwama district leading injuries to the driver of the vehicle. Witnesses said that a Tata 407 vehicle driver sustained injuries after his vehicle collided with a truck on the Srinagar-Jammu highway near Galander in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Police officials said that Matador bearing No JK04-1456 and Truck JK03D- 4643 collided with each other near bypass crossing Galander resulting in injuries to the driver. The driver of the vehicle has been shifted to a local hospital for treatment. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and taken up the investigations.

Two Militants arrested in South Kashmir, Claims Police

November 14 Police on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended two militants affiliated with Hizb Ul Mujahideen at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Officials said that they had received inputs that there is movement of militants in Dugripora Panzgam area “Working on which a joint naka was established at Panzgam railway underpass by 55 RR, Awantipora Police and 185 CRPF late Tuesday evening,” he said. “At around 9.30 pm two persons were spotted going towards Panzgam who were asked to stop but they ran towards village Dugripora. The duo was chased and apprehended.” The officer said that upon their search one UBGL thrower, two hand grenades and some ammunition of AK series was recovered.
