Encounter Starts in Shopian Area

November 03 An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in the Khudpora Memander area of Arwani in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. Earlier Forces had launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. 2-3 Local Militants from South Kashmir are believed to be trapped in a residential house, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Kishtawar Sinthan Road Closed Due To Fresh Snow Fall

November 03 Sheikh Nadeem With moderate showers, lightning and winds, the high-altitude areas of  Sinthan Marwa in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday received a fresh snowfall. Reports said that overnight, the snowfall started in the higher reaches of Sinthan Marwa. The snowfall followed torrential rains that lashed large parts of Jammu and Kashmir bringing down the mercury by several notches. The plains of Kishtwar district witnessed incessant rains, while the hilly regions recorded fresh snowfall on Saturday. The recently opened Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road also recorded a fresh spell of snowfall. Another South Kashmir Youth Joins Militancy

November 03 The Government Forces despite launching a massive crackdown against Militants in Jammu Kashmir have largely failed to keep a check at the Militant recruitment as more local youth continue to pick up arms. Despite having killed more than 230 Militants the last year, this year Militant recruitment has crossed the highest number in the last ten years as it stands at 175 in the first ten months of 2018. Forces Kill a Civilian in Shopian Area

November 03 The Indian Army on Saturday shot dead a man when he allegedly tried to cross the fence of their camp in Puhnoo area south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Around 3:00 am today, the Government Force personnel movement of a suspicious person near their camp at Puhnoo and immediately challenged the alleged intruder who crossed the fence and came closer to the wall of the camp. “The sentry fired warning shots in a bid to stop the unknown man. but, he continued moving. Sharda University Student who had went Missing Joins Militancy

November 02 A 17 year old Kashmiri student who was roughed up by a mob of students at Sharda University in Greater Noida earlier this month, has joined Militancy. Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the youth identified as Ehtisham Bilal, a resident of Srinagar's Khanyar Area who had went missing since the last three days has announced his entry into the Militant outfit, Islamic State Kashmir. Ehtisham Bilal was a first year student of Bachelors in Medical Imaging Technology (BMIT) and had been missing since Sunday from Greater Noida. Forces Raid Memander Area, Arrest Four Youth

November 02 The Government Forces on Thursday night barged into the Memandar area of South Kashmir's Shopian District and thrashed several locals in the area, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Locals alleged that the late night on Thursday the forced reached the Memandar area, barged into several households and started thrashing locals to pulp without any provocation,"Four youths were arrested during the nocturnal raids," a local from Memandar said. Three Thieves Arrested from Kulgam Area

November 02 Jammu Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested three thieves and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, a police spokesman said. He said a theft case was registered in police station under FIR number 81/2018 and 77/2018 regarding thefts in Quimoh Khudwani in Kulgam. During the investigation police arrested three persons identified as Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh, Adil Ahmad Sheikh and Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, he said adding a toy gun, knife, motorcycles, mobile phones & mobile accessories including batteries, chargers, earphones, covers, wrist watch and other stolen goods were recovered from their possession. At least 100 sheep, goats killed due to lightening in Rajouri

November 02 107 goats and sheep were killed while a dozen others were injured in a lightning incident in Alal Mangota area of district Rajouri in Jammu. On the directions of DDC Rajouri, Mohammed Aijaz Asad Sub Division official Thannamandi and District Sheep Husbandry Officer from Rajouri with a team has been rushed to the spot DDC Rajouri also deputed a team immediately to make assessment of the loss, officials said.
