Snow Expected in the First Week of January, Kashmir Continues to Freeze under Immense Cold

December 31 Cold wave gripped Kashmir Valley including Ladakh region again on Monday after a days respite with weather officials predicting snowfall in the first week of January. The minimum temperature plummeted several notches below the freezing point in Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar to minus 6.6 while it was minus 2.2 on Sunday. An official of the Met department said the minimum temperature was minus 5.5 degree Celsius in Pahalgam, and minus 5 degree Celsius in Gulmarg. Leh recorded minus 14 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature, and in Kargil, it was minus 17.2 degree Celsius.

Gunshots heard during CASO in Baramulla

December 30 Gunshots have been heard during a cordon and search operation at Kreeri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 29RR of Indian army and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a search operation in the area on Sunday afternoon. The entry and exit points were blocked as the operation was launched. Massive gunshots have been heard in the area, sources said. December 29 Firdous Qadri Two players of J&K Gate ball Union, Ahsan Ali and Zahid Hussain both hailing from Srinagar, Kashmir showed tremendous performance at the Indian Open Gateball Tournament 2018, Bhubaneswar Odisha which was organised by Indian Open Gateball Union. December 29 A cordon and search operation has been launched at Ustad Mohalla in Sugan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District late on Saturday evening. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a massive door to door search operation in the area. Following an input about Militant movement in the area, the forces blocked all the entry and exit points of the area. Pulwama Encounter Over- Four Militants Slain

December 29 Four Militants have been killed in an early morning encounter that raged between Militants and Government Forces in Bunpora of Hajin area in Rajpora belt of Pulwama in South Kashmir on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that operation that had been launched jointly 44 Rashtriya Rifles, 182 and 183 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police has been called over.
