19 year Old Kashmiri Student Goes Missing from Noida

A 19-year-old Kashmiri student went missing from his college premises in Greater Noida on Saturday. His family, which travelled from Handwara to Greater Noida, filed a formal police complaint on Tuesday. The student, Aashim Hussain, went missing from Knowledge Park on Saturday. His family hasn’t been able to contact him since. “A missing persons complaint has been registered by the family. His phone has been switched off since Saturday. 41 Policemen Killed in Militant Attacks in 2018, Highest in 15 Years

December 12 2018 has been the deadliest year for the Jammu and Kashmir police who have lost  41 cops in militant attacks.  Highest in the past 15 years. In 2017, 31 policemen fell to bullets. Militants also looted 28 weapons from the police, official figures say. According to figures nine of the killed were special police officers and the rest were regular policemen. “The highest number of 23 policemen was killed in the first half of 2018. Even during the Ramadhan ceasefire, when forces followed didn’t launch any operation against militants from May 16 to June 17, five policemen were killed,” figures reveal. December 12 Many parts of Kashmir received heavy rains since early morning, an official of the meteorological (MeT) department said. He said south Kashmir's Kokernag, in Islamabad (Anantnag) district, received the highest rainfall of 63.4mm till 8.30am, while the neighbouring Qazigund received 58.6mm of rainfall. Snowfall has also started in Dooru area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district and many other parts of South Kashmir. Minimum temperatures dropped sharply across the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Wednesday triggering cold wave conditions, the weather office said. December  12 The Government Forces on Wednesday launched another cordon and search operation in Derpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police sealed all the entry and exit points to the Derpora area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. December 11 The final phase of Panchayat polls  concluded on Tuesday with an overall 38.8 percent voter turnout in Kashmir. The polls which started from 8am till 2pm was held at 452 polling stations in Kashmir. Kupwara witnessed 53.6 percent, Bandipora 46 percent, Baramulla 38.9 percent, Ganderbal 20.9 percent, Budgam 38.8 percent, Pulwama 1.4 percent and Anantnag 24.8 percent. 430 candidates were in fray for 55 Sarpanch and 138 Panch seats while 68 Sarpanchs and 433 Panchs were elected unopposed in this phase. The polls which began last month was conducted in nine phases.

Four Policemen killed in Shopian, Assault Rifles Snatched

December 11 Four policemen have been killed in a militant attack in Zainapora area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. A police source said that three policemen were killed in an attack carried out by militants on police guarding minority in Zainapora area of Shopian district on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that one policemen was also injured in the attack and he has been shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment who later succumbed to his injuries. "Four weapons have also been snatched from the policemen" sources told The Kashmiriyat.
