TRAL Residents Protest Against Non-Available of Drinking Water

December  26 Nawaz Ibn Ahad The residents of Dar Ganie Gund Village of Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district are up in arms and staged a protest on Wednesday against the failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in providing drinking water to residents. The protesters which included men and women said they had been facing shortage of water from last couple of days. With the onset of winter season and Chilai Kalan, the condition and service of PHE department has changed from bad to worse."where we will go in these chilly days and nights", said group of locals of Dar Ganie Gund Village. Some protesters alleged that they have brought the matter into the notice of concerned authorities but nothing has been done to restore water supply in the area as of now.

22 Year old Boy Killed in Road Accident at Bijbehara, Two Others Injured

December 26 A youth was killed and two others injured in a road accident in Bijbehara in south Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the scooty they were travelling on collided with a three wheeler near Nowbugh area in Bijbehara resulting in the on-spot death of Sameer Ahmed. The other two identified as Muneeb and Faisal were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.

Tamil Nadu- Woman contracts HIV Through Blood Transfusion

December 26 A 24-year-old pregnant woman from this district contracted HIV after receiving blood donated by an infected man, prompting the Tamil Nadu government to review the stocks in all blood banks of the state to ensure they were free of the deadly virus. An employee of a blood bank attached to a government hospital in Sattur, near here, has been dismissed, while two others have been suspended in connection with the incident, health department officials said on Wednesday. The state government said it was making all efforts to prevent the impact of the virus on the woman, and stocks in all blood banks would be reviewed to ensure that such incidents did not recur. Police Officer Found Dead in Humhama Area

December 26 A police officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Humhama area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday. Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that a Sub-Inspector of Jammu Kashmir Police identified as Abdul Hamid Din was found dead in a hotel at Humhama in Srinagar. Hamid is a resident of Trikanjan area in North Kashmir's Baramulla District and was posted with Anti Hijacking wing of police at Srinagar Airport. The Police has taken cognizance of the incident started investigation into the matter. Meanwhile they said that as per initial investigations it seems that the officer has died due to a cardiac attack.

Pheran- My First Love and My Identity

December 26 Umar Fayaz The Pheran is the traditional Kashmiri attire worn both by people irrespective of gender. It resembles a long loose cloak. Earthquake Shakes Jammu Kashmir

December 26 Slight tremors were felt on Wednesday after a low intensity earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale, occurred in Jammu Kashmir. However, the MeT officials said that no reports of casualty or damage was received. The quake was felt at 9.52 in the morning and its epicenter was in Jammu Kashmir, they said.
