Forces Launch Nocturnal CASO in Shopian Area

December 25 Following a specific input about Militant movement, the Government Forces jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Turkwangam area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. On the Tuesday Night, the forces including 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir police sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Shopian locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Tral Roads Remain Deserted Amid a Complete Shutdown on Day 4

December 25 A Complete shutdown was observed in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district for the fourth consecutive day against the militant killings on Tuesday. All shops and business establishments remained closed in the area while as public transport remained off the roads. Six affiliates of Zakir Musa including his deputy chief Soliha alias Rehan khan were killed by government forces during a brief gunfight on Saturday morning in Arampora village of Tral belt.

No Namaz in Public Places, UP Police Orders Noida Companies

December 25 The Uttar Pradesh Police has asked companies and offices located in Noida of the National Capital region  to ensure that the employees working in these offices don't offer namaz in open public spaces. According to a notice issued by the Police station at Sector 58 in Noida, companies in this area have been asked to not allow their employees to offer prayers in Public parks and other public areas. "The offices will be held responsible, if Muslim employees are found offering namaz in open public spaces," the order said as per a report of India today.

250 KV Transformer Stolen in Ganderbal

December 25 Rayees Shah In the first of its kind of incidents, Unknown persons on Tuesday stole a 250KV transformer in Harran area of Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, plunging the area into darkness. Reports said that the thieves stole 250KV transformer  last night. Due to non-availability of electricity, the residents said that have been put to inconvenience especially students who are appearing in different examinations. PDD officer Mr Javaid Ahmad said Some unknown persons have stolen transformer from Tehlipora Harran area of Ganderbal.The Executive engineer of power department has lodged a complaint in this regard. December 24 The Kashmir valley witnessed the coldest night of the season as the night temperatures dipped to Minus 6.8 in the Summer capital of Jammu Kashmir. A MET Department official told that the cold weather conditions are likely to continue for another four to five days with weather mostly likely to remain dry.
