Chrar e Shareef- Intense Clashes Erupt Amid Snow, Mobile Internet Suspended

January 21 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Hapatnad area of Charar e Shareef in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. Two Militants have been reportedly killed in the encounter that raged early morning on Monday between Government Forces and Militants. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning hundreds of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. Two Residential Houses Gutted in Shopian Fire Incident

January 21 Two residential houses were gutted in fire incident in Bongam area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Monday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that fire broke out in the house and spread to the nearby houses in the Bongam area. They said that the houses were completely gutted in the fire, the house of one of the neighbors also suffered damage in the incident. Fire tenders with the help of locals brought fire under control. Police has taken cognizance of the issue and said the cause of fire is not known yet.

Kashmir- Air Traffic Hit, Highway Blocked as Weather Remains Gloomy

January 21 Authorities at the Srinagar International Airport on Monday said that several flights to and from New Delhi have been cancelled or stand delayed due to bad weather conditions. The officials said that Go Air 213/213 DEL/SXR/IXJ; Air Asia I5 715/716 DEL/SXR/DEL flights are cancelled for today. Meanwhile flights scheduled to land at Srinagar airport from New Delhi have been delayed by several hours. The Kashmir weather department has predicted heavy snowfall across Kashmir for three days. In the past few days the inclement weather conditions have disrupted air traffic several times at the Srinagar International Airport. The Highway connecting Jammu with Srinagar has also been blocked due to fresh snowfall near the Jawahar Tunnel.

January 21 Two Militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter that started between militants and Government forces at Hapatnad area of Chrar e Sharif in Central Kashmir’s Budgam District on Monday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. The encounter began when a group of holed up Militants opened fire upon Forces conducting search operation in the area, he said. January 21 An Encounter started between militants and Government forces at Hapatnad area of Chrar e Sharif in Central Kashmir’s Budgam District on Monday. Weather Improves Slightly in Kashmir valley- Snow Predicted fro Today evening

January 20 Even though the MeT department had predicted heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir regions from Saturday evening, the weather showed slight improvement on Sunday with an increase in the minimum temperatures due to a nightlong cloud cover, the weather office said. “The minimum temperatures improved due to nightlong cloud cover. Snowfall is likely to occur in the plains and higher reaches on Sunday. The intensity will gradually increase from tomorrow (Monday),” a MET Department official said. Husband Stabbed to Death by Wife, Paramour in India’s UP

January 20 A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his wife with the help of her paramour, police said Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday night when the man, identified as Sunil Kumar, was sleeping in his house at Shahpur town here, Circle Officer Hariram Yadav said. A case was registered against Kumar’s wife Sudha and her paramour, and they both were arrested, he said. Kumar was killed for allegedly opposing his wife’s “relationship” with another man, the officer said. Police have recovered a knife which was allegedly used to commit the crime, he added. (PTI)

Two Critically Injured in Sopore Road Accident

January 20 Shabir Khan At least two persons were critically injured after a car they were travelling in met with an accident in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that a car rammed into a divider at New colony area near Axis Bank Sopore, resulting in injuries to two persons. The injured were rushed to SDH Sopore where from doctors referred them SKIMS Soura Srinagar for advanced treatment. The duo were identified as Abdul Gani Shah (55) of Shalpora Sopore and Zahoor Ahmad (25), of Sher colony Sopore.

January 19 Suspected Militants hurled a towards a Police station in Yaripora area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons on Saturday evening hurled a grenade towards a the Police station located in Yaripora area of Kulgam. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. The Government Forces launched a Cordon and Search operation in the area. Earlier on Friday, three grenade attacks took place in the Kashmir valley.
