Gunshots heard During CASO in Kulgam Area

January 12 Gunshots have been heard during a cordon and search operation at Katpora area in Yaripora in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian army and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a search operation in the area on Saturday morning. Governor Malik Calls Pakistan Frustrated, Says There is Complete Peace in Kashmir Valley

January 12 The Jammu Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik Saturday said Indian forces are giving a befitting response to Pakistan which is “frustrated” because it is not able to push “infiltrators”. Five Killed as Tractor Turns Turtle in Amritsar

January 12 Five persons were killed when a tractor met an accident in Punjab’s Amritsar district on Saturday, the police said. The incident took place in the morning at Vallah in Amritsar district when the tractor trolley carrying labourers was on its way to a construction site, Amritsar Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaspreet Singh. The front wheel of the tractor got dislodged and it overturned near a canal, he added. The police suspect that construction material including heavy iron pipes, which were being transported in the trolley when it overturned, may have inflicted serious injuries on the labourers leading to their deaths.

Fire Incident at Doda Damages Seven Shops, Three Houses

January 12 At least three houses and seven shops were gutted in a fire in this hilly district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said. The fire broke out in a house at Kahara village, 45 kms from here, around 4.30 AM and quickly spread to adjoining structures, a police official said. He said the fire and emergency services immediately rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames after an hour-long operation. A total of three houses and seven shops belonging to five different owners were damaged in the fire, the official said. January 12 A HUGE swarm of locusts have descended on Islam's holiest site Mecca - leaving worshippers covered in insects. Footage shared on social media shows the plague of insects surging around the Great Mosque in Mecca earlier this week as cleaners battled to fumigate after the phenomenon. In the clips, the insects can be seen flying around the holy site as well as on the walls and tiled floor.
