January 10 The Government Forces on Thursday launched a cordon and search operation in Tral area of South Kashmir. Five Women Are Raped Everyday in the City- Delhi Police

January 09 Five women were raped and eight were molested everyday on an average in the national capital last year, Delhi Police said Wednesday. According to Delhi Police data, 2,043 cases of rapes were registered last year as compared to 2,059 cases the year before that and 2,065 cases in 2016. Last year, 3,175 cases of molestation were reported as compared to 3,275 cases the year before and 4,032 cases in 2016. January 09 Unknown gunmen kidnapped a civilian from Gund Brath area in Sopore of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. 30 Sikh Sarpanchs and Panchs Resign in Pulwama

January 09 Following the killing of a Sikh youth by unknown gunmen in Tral about 30 Sarpanchs and Panchs from the Sikh communtity have resigned en masse in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Girls Commits Suicide After Failing in Class 12 Exams

January 09 Sajad Hameed A girl student of class 12th committed suicide at Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam after failing to qualify class 12 exam. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that an 18-year old girl (name withheld) who was a resident of Chewdara area in Budgam consumed poison at her home after she failed in the class 12 exams. The girl was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, from where she was shifted to Srinagar hospital for advanced medical treatment, however she died on the way to the hospital. Pertinently the results of board exams for class 12th were declared on Monday evening.

Woman Arrested for Killing Mother in Muzaffarnagar,

January 09 A woman and her paramour were arrested Wednesday for allegedly killing her 40-year-old mother here, police said. Ishavati was found dead at her house and her daughter Nilam in an unconscious state on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sudhir Kumar said. During investigation, it was found that Nilam and her paramour Manu were involved in the killing, he said. It is suspected that the duo killed the woman as she had opposed their relationship, Kumar said. Ishavati, wife of lawyer Sunderpal, was strangled to death after being given an intoxicant, he said. The woman was killed when her husband had gone out of the house, the SSP said. Police had earlier registered a case against unidentified persons. (PTI)

January 09 The Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat said on Wednesday the menace of Militancy is spreading its head like a "multi-headed monster" and is "here to stay" as long as states continue to use it as a state policy. Massive Fire in Handwara Town, 10 Shops Guttes

January 09 Sajad Hameed Massive fire gutted nearly ten shops in north Kashmir’s Handwara town on Tuesday night. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that fire that broke out from a shop around 1 am spread to nine adjoining structures within no time. They said that Locals rushed to the spot to douse off the flames, after which Fire tenders and police also rushed to the spot. The incident caused a massive damage to at least ten structures in the main town, Locals added. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
