Hizb Posters appear in Kokernag, Ask Students to Remain away from 26 January Function

January 09 Posters claiming to be from Militant outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen have appeared in various areas of Kokernag belt in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district since Tuesday morning. The outfit has issued a stern warning to the elected candidates of recently concluded Panchayat elections, through the posters written in urdu language. “While young Kashmiris are sacrificing their blood for the cause, some opportunists are still looking for power," the poster reads. Fresh Snowfall Predicted in Kashmir Valley From Friday, Cold wave Continues unabated

January 09 The MeT has predicted moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir plains on the 11th and 12th of January. "Widespread moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir & rains in plains of Jammu division most likely from this evening to 11th and 12th of January." Some places may receive heavy snowfall which may affect surface & air traffic mainly on 5 Jan, Director MeT Sonam Lotus said. Meanwhile the cold wave conditions continued unabated on Wednesday in the Kashmir Valley, dropping minimum temperatures several notches below the freezing point. Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar recorded minus 3.0 degrees Celsius while tourist resort Pahalgam recorded minus 5.0 and ski resort Gulmarg recorded minus 2.2, as the minimum temperatures on Wednesday.

Militants Attack Army camp in Tral

January 08 Panic gripped Lurgam area of Tral belt in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Tuesday evening when the sound of gunshots reverberated  in the area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected Militants opened fire upon a camp of 42 RR of Indian Army in Panzoo area of Tral. However, the army men deployed in the camp retaliated to the fire, however the attackers managed to successfully escape from the spot.
