CRPF Man Killed in Ongoing Tral Encounter

January 05 A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man injured during a gunfight at Aripal village of Tral has succumbed to his injuries. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a CRPF man who was injured in the initial exchange of gunfire at Aripal Tral on Saturday morning has succumbed to his injures. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Kumar of 180 Battalion of CRPF. Meanwhile the encounter between Government Forces and Militants is still on amid massive clashes in the Aripal area. A top Militant commander of Hizb is also trapped at the site of the encounter, As per initial reports.

Fresh Snowfall Blocks Highway, Trains and Flights Suspended in Kashmir

January 05 Widespread, heavy snowfall has lead to the snapping of air, surface links to Kashmir on Saturday morning. Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat suggest that railway services have been suspended across the Kashmir, while the highway connecting Jammu with Srinagar has been blocked too after fresh snowfall in most of the areas of Kashmir valley. The flights on Srinagar airport have also been temporarily suspended for a day in view of the fresh snowfall. Meanwhile snow clearance is on in the urban areas, however the rural areas of the Kashmir valley especially down in South Kashmir still remain disconnected.

January 05 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in Aripal area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday hundreds of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out, a local told The Kashmiriyat. ALSO READ: Encounter Rages in Tral People in large numbers from adjacent areas shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans are trying marching towards the encounter site. Meanwhile Mobile Internet Services have been snapped in this South Kashmir region.

Five Members of a Family die in a Gas Leak in Srinagar

January 05 five members of a single family from Tangdar area of Kupwara district died of suffocation last night  at Bemina area of Srinagar. Encounter Rages in Tral

January 05 An Encounter started between militants and Government forces at Aripal area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 42 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area and the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two to three militants are trapped in a residential house in the area. A heavy exchange of fire was going on when this report being filed.

Gunshots Heard During CASO in Tral Area

January 05 Gunshots have been heard during a cordon and search operation at Aripal in Tral area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 42 RR of Indian army and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a search operation in the area on Saturday morning. The entry and exit points were blocked as the operation was launched. Massive gunshots have been heard in the area, sources said. However officials could not be reached to confirm whether a contact had been established with Militants or not. Details rushing in.
