Shopian rejoices as Snowfall Starts in the District

January 04 Snowfall has started in the Shopian District in South Kashmir on Friday afternoon, whilst other districts in Kashmir are still awaiting  fresh snowfall. The MET Department of Jammu Kashmir has predicted moderate to heavy snowfall in plains of the Kashmir valley for the next 72 hours. "Snowfall has come at a right time and people are enjoying it, the crops, the rivers need the snowfall at this point of time," Abdul Rashid, a farmer from Shopian said.

Unknown Gunmen Fire at a Civilian in Pulwama Area

January 04 Unidentified gunmen fired upon a person in Khasipora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unidentified gunmen fired upon a civilian identified as Suman Singh S/O Nanak Singh, a resident of Khasipora in Tral. He was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, Reportedly his brother is said to be a Sarpanch. More details awaited.

Muslims Must go to Pakistan, Those Feeling Unsafe in India Should be Bombed, says BJP MLA

January 04 In a controversial statement, Vikram Singh Saini, BJP MLA from Muzaffarnagar has said that those who feel unsafe in India should be bombed. Talking to media persons the BJP MLA from Khatauli assembly constituency said if he gets a ministry then he will bomb all such people and added that not even one will be spared. The BJP lawmaker is not new to controversies and last year he had said that "Hindustan is for Hindus" and added that Muslims should go to Pakistan. Demanding population control law, Saini had said that until a law on population control comes into existence, he has told his wife to keep producing children; even though she told him that two kids were enough.

January 04 The MeT has predicted moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir plains during the next 72 hours. According to MeT officials, "Moderate to heavy snowfall predicted in Kashmir valley during next 72 hours. "Widespread moderate to heavy snowfall in Kashmir & rains in plains of Jammu division most likely from this evening to 6 Jan with peak on 5 Jan." Some places may receive heavy snowfall which may affect surface & air traffic mainly on 5 Jan, Director MeT Sonam Lotus said.

Militants Killed in Tral had all Joined Militancy After May 2018

January 03 Three Militants killed in the Tral encounter have been identified as locals who were affiliated with the Militant outfit, Hizb ul Mujahideen and Jaish e Muhammad. January 03 Three Militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter in Tral area of South Kashmir on Wednesday.
