Tral Encounter- At least Ten Youth Injured in Clashes

January 03 At least a dozen persons were injured during intense clashes that began in Tral area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Thursday. The youth in large numbers along with women and old men hit the streets after the news of the encounter spread in the area. People tried to make their way to the encounter site and Government forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that at least ten protesters were injured during the clashes when youth hurled stones upon the troopers in retaliation. They said that at least ten youth were injured in clashes near Batagund, Khangund, Gulshanpora and other places of the district. Intense Clashes Erupt near Encounter Site in Tral

January 03 Intense Clashes have erupted between protesters and government forces erupted in the Gulshanpora  area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. A Local told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces who responded to intense tear smoke shelling. People in large numbers from adjacent areas shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans are trying marching towards the encounter site.

January 03 A fresh encounter has raged between militants and Government forces at Mir Mohallah area of Gulshanpora in Tral belt of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat  that a joint team of 42 RR, SOG, Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Renzipora area on Thursday morning. During the search operation, the Militants opened fire on the forces, who retaliated and the initial exchange of fire continued for at least fifteen minutes, as per sources, However, nobody was injured as per reports. As per Initial inputs received by The Kashmiriyat, two to three Militants were believed to be holed up in an open area. Locals meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that the firing started around 0845 am, however the exchange of fire has restarted now....

Gunshots Heard During CASO in Tral

January 03 Gunshots have been heard during a cordon and search operation at Mir Mohallah in Gunlshapora area of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 42 RR of Indian army and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a search operation in the area on Thursday morning. The entry and exit points were blocked as the operation was launched. Massive gunshots have been heard in the area, sources said. However officials could not be reached to confirm whether a contact had been established with Militants or not. Details rushing in.

Rabid Dog Bites Five Persons in South Kashmir Area

December 02 Umaisar Gull  At least five people were injured after being attacked by a rabid dog in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s on Wednesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a rabid dog appeared in Nagrus area of Kund in Qazigund belt on Wednesday and attacked as many as five persons in the area. The injured persons were rushed to local hospital for treatment, Officials at the hospital while speaking to The Kashmiriyat stated the condition of the injured to be stable. Pertinently, the Kashmir valley as per Government stats saw a total of 20098 dog bite cases in 2017.

Five Army Officers Booked for Corruption

January 02 The CBI has booked five Army personnel, including a colonel, for allegedly receiving bribes worth Rs 18 lakh from a supplier of rations for troops posted in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, officials said Wednesday. This is the second case in the recent past when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against army officers for corruption in supplies. In the latest case, the CBI has registered an FIR against Colonel Raman Dahda, Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Kumar, Subedar Devender Kumar, Havildar Abhay Singh, Subedar Sahuran Sahu and supplier K K Yangfo for criminal conspiracy. China Building ‘Advanced Warship’ for Pakistan

January 02 China is building an export version of one of its ‘advanced warships’ and will deliver it to Pakistan as part of a major arms deal, China Daily reported Wednesday. China State Shipbuilding Corp, a large State-owned defense contractor, told the newspaper that the ship is a version of the Chinese Navy's most advanced guided missile frigate, without specifying its type. “In late December it said the ship is under construction at its Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, noting it will be equipped with modern detection and weapon systems and will be capable of anti-ship, anti-submarine and air-defense operations.” Type 054A is the best frigate in service with the PLA Navy. DC Suspends Four Doctors in Islamabad (Anantnag) District

January 02 The Deputy Commissioner (DC) for South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District, Mohammad Younis Malik on Wednesday during a surprise inspection of PHCs at Sallar and Sirigufara suspended four doctors. The Doctors were suspended for absence from their duties, the DC later issued orders for their immediate suspension. December 02 Rafiq Bin Hameed The employees of Social forestry in Tangmarg area of Gulmarg in North Kashmir's Bandipora today staged a protest for the 15th consecutive day. Protesting against the Range officer of the Forest department, the employees demanded the immediate transfer of the officer for his unethical behavior in the office. "The employees said that the employees have been on a strike for the past twenty days, however nobody has paid any heed to our demands," Ghulam Mohammed Dar, a protesting employee of the forest department said.
