140 Militants Killed from June- December in Jammu Kashmir

January 02 Altogether 140 militants were killed by government forces in Jammu Kashmir between June and December 2018 during which 426 stone pelting incidents were also reported in the state, Union minister Hansraj Ahir said Wednesday. Replying to a written question in Rajya Sabha, he said 140 militants were killed from June 25 to December 5, 2018 in the state, where 119 militants violence took place during the period. The minister of state for home said 426 stone pelting incidents took place in Jammu and Kashmir in the said period in which 34 civilians were injured. As many as 171 forces personnel were killed while combating with militants in Kashmir and other parts of the country in 2016, 167 troops were killed in 2017 and 163 personnel in 2018 (till November).

Two Residential Houses Gutted in Baramulla

December 02 Shabir Khan Two residential houses were gutted in fire incident in Baramulla town of North Kashmir on Tuesday night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that fire broke out in the house of Altaf Ahmed Kaloo, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh and Ishfaq Ahmed Kaloo all residents of Ganie Hamam in Old Town of Baramulla. They said that the houses were completely gutted in the fire, the house of one of the neighbours also suffered damage in the incident. Fire tenders with the help of locals brought fire under control. Police has taken cognizance of the issue and said the cause of fire is not known yet.

A large number of people from Naidkhai (Kanipora) assembled near Power Receiving Station Naidkhai and staged a protest and blocked the Sopore -Sumbal road for four to five hours. January 02 A massive cordon and search operation is underway in Shangus area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the RR of Indian Army reached Wani Mohalla of Sheikhpora Payeen in Shangus belt of South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) district on Wednesday and launched a search operation in the area. The forces before started a search operation in the area sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. January 02 Salman Shah Various families from the South Kashmir district of Islamabad (Anantnag) have complained of officials barging into their households and charging money from the inmates. A family from Mir Danter area of Islamabad speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that officials knocked at their door a few weeks ago and informed the inmates that they were officials from the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Pakistan Army Shoots Down Indian Quadcopter

January 02 The Pakistan Army on Wednesday claimed to have shot down an Indian spy quadcopter flying over the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Bagh Sector on Tuesday. Major General Asif Ghafoor, the director general of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), released the picture of the quadcopter in a tweet from his official Twitter handle. “Not even a quadcopter will be allowed to cross [the] LoC, In Shaa Allah,” he wrote on the social networking site. January 02 The Government Forces on Tuesday Night busted a hideout of Militant in the Pulwama District of South Kashmir, Police officials said. They said that a hideout was busted late night on Tuesday at Kani Dajan area of Keller in South Kashmir's Pulwama District.
