Republic Day Commemorated in Islamabad (Anantnag) District, Tehsildar Unfurls Flag in Kokernag

January 26 Likewise other parts of the state, the 70th Republic Day was commemorated at Islamabad(anantnag) district also. The main function was held at Government Degree College (Boys) Khanabal, where the Chief Guest was Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik who unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the Parade. One Militant Killed in Khanmoh Identified as a Pulwama Resident, Other a Foreigner

January 26 Two slain Militants killed in the early morning encounter at Khanmoh area of Pulwama district have been identified. A Police official said that during a cordon and search operation launched by Forces in Khanmoh area, the Militants opened fire, triggering an encounter. In the encounter, two Militants were killed. Kashmir Highway Remains Shut for Sixth Consecutive Day

January 26 The Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed on Saturday for the 6th consecutive day stranding scores of valley-bound passengers here. "Shooting stones continue at many places in the Ramban district. Landslides again hit the highway in Gagroo, Anokhi Fall and Battery Chashma area even as debris clearance operations were underway," a traffic department official said. Two policemen, including a junior officer were injured by shooting stones on Friday. For the safety of passengers it has been decided not to allow traffic on the highway, the official added. 2 Militants killed in Khanmoh Encounter

January 26 Two Militants have been killed in an encounter with government forces in Khanmoh area of Pampore in Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Saturday afternoon. An official said that the operation is being jointly conducted by a team of 50 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF. An officer confirmed that the exchange of gunfire has erupted after militants attacked a party of upon the searching party of forces in the area. In the initial exchange of fire, three SOG men were injured. Earlier CASO was launched in the area after receiving inputs of militants presence in the area. In the ensuing gunfight, two unidentified Militants have been killed. A Search operation is underway to retrieve the bodies of the slain Militants.

Grenade Attack in Sopore- Third of the Day

September 20 Suspected Militants late on Friday evening hurled a grenade on CRPF camp  in Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons hurled a grenade on a CRPF camp in Sopore Town of North Kashmir. The attackers escaped from the spot, as per sources. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. A police official said that a search operation has been launched around the area.
