Grenade Attack on Tahab Camp in Pulwama

January 25 Unknown persons hurled a grenade on a camp of Indian Army in Tahab area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District late evening on Friday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons hurled a grenade on a camp in Tahab area which missed the target and exploded near the gate of the camp which was retaliated by Forces with intense firing. The Militants escaped from the spot, as per sources. As per initial reports, nobody has been injured in the attack. A police official said that a search operation has been launched around the area.

No Grenade Attack in Sirigufwara, Says Police

January 25 The Jammu Kashmir Police has said that no grenade attack has happened on Sirigfwara Police station in Islamabad (anantnag) district. A Police official while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that an attack happened in Islamabad (anantnag) township near General Bus stand in which one policeman sustained minor injuries. He refuted the reports of any attack having happened in Sirigufwara. Meanwhile a Local from Sirigufwara also testified that no grenade attack had happened in the area.

January 25 Unknown persons hurled a grenade towards a vehicle of Government Forces parked outside the General bus stand in KP road area of Islamabad (Anantnag). Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons after hurling the grenade, fled from the spot, after which forces fired some aerial shots. However, the attackers fled from the spot successfully. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a search operation was launched in the area immediately after the attack. He said nobody was injured in the attack.

Baramulla Shuts for the Second Consecutive Day to Mourn Militant Killings

January 25 Shabir Khan North Kashmir's Baramulla district has shut down for the second consecutive day on Friday to mourn the recent militant killings. The Kashmiriyat reporter from Baramulla, Shabir Khan reported that all shops and business establishments are shut in the town while roads are wearing a deserted look. Thee Lashkar militants were killed on Wednesday in the outskirts of Baramulla district in a gunfight with government forces. The slain were identified as Suhaib Farooq Akhoon, son of Farooq Ahmad Akhoon, a resident of Khanpora Baramulla; Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla; Nasir Ahmad Darzi, son of Mohammad Amin Darzi, a resident of Sangrampora Batpora Sopore, at present in Jamia Qadeem Baramulla.

Valley wakes up to Fresh Snow Blanket, Highway Remains Shut for Fifth day

January 25 Amid a slight rise in temperature and snowfall in parts of Kashmir including Srinagar highway remains closed for the fifth straight day. The traffic on the Srinagar Jammu highway has been halted due to landslides in Ramban district. “Besides, landslides have at Gagroo, Anokhi Fall and Battery Chashma areas fresh snowfall occurred on both sides on Jawahar tunnel," an official said. He said that no vehicle shall be allowed to ply on the highway. Srinagar woke to a blanket of snow on Friday and recorded minus 1.3 Degrees Celsius of temperature. Gulmarg received 3 centimeters of fresh snow and temperature of minus 10.0 degree Celsius. January 24 Waris Shah The dilapidated condition of Kulgad link road has irked the local Residents. While showing concern over the deplorable condition of Kulgad Link Road, the local residents  have appealed to the authorities to initiate construction of the road. January 23 A cordon and search operation has been launched in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 42 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a CASO in Nagbal area of Tral. Forces Barge Inside Houses in Shopian, Thrash Locals, Damage Cars

The Locals of Sugan belt have accused the Government Forces of excesses in the area on Wednesday afternoon. Locals from Sugan area of Shopian told The Kashmiriyat that the forces barged inside households and assaulted several locals after the slain youth Shoaib and Shams ul Ha from the nearby villages were laid to rest. The Locals said that the Army men also smashed several cars and bikes. Three Militants Killed in Baramulla Encounter

January 23 Three Militants have been killed in an encounter with government forces took place in Binner area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir on Wednesday afternoon. An official said that the operation is being jointly conducted by a team of 46 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and 53 BN of CRPF. An officer confirmed that the exchange of gunfire has erupted after holed up militants fired upon the searching party of forces in the area. Earlier CASO was launched in the area after receiving inputs of militants presence in the area. In the ensuing gunfight, three unidentified Militants have been killed. A Search operation is underway to retrieve the bodies of the slain Militants.
