PDP Member Rahim Rather Expresses Condolences With Avalanche Victim Families

ISLAMABAD
February 10 The Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Jammu Kashmir for Kokernag constituency on Sunday visited the avalanche hit areas in Kokernag. Abdul Rahim Rather, the former MLA as per a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat visited the families of people killed in the recent avalanches. Expressing condolences with the bereaved families, he expressed solidarity with them. He also visited several areas in the Kokernag belt and met the locals who appraised their issues with him. He assured the locals of full cooperation.

After Ladakh Gets Division, Kargil Protests for Being ‘Neglected’

February 10 People of Kargil on Sunday staged a massive protest on Sunday against the governor’s decision of setting up the office headquarter only at Leh, after granting Ladakh the division stature. Thousands of locals including social activists took on roads and staged a protest demonstration against the decision of not giving an equal share to the people of Kargil following the announcement from the state governor to give the separate division to the Ladakh. The locals are demanding that the office headquarters of the new ‘division’ should be at a rotational basis. Citing reasons that in summers the secretariat is functioning at Srinagar and from Kargil, it would be easier to operate. And in winters it is being shifted to Jammu, so from Leh, it is easier to stay connected. ...

Thousands Attend Funeral of 18 year old Militant in Kulgam

February 10 Amid intense sloganeering, Thousands of people thronged Quimoh area in Kulgam district of South Kashmir to attend the funeral of Parvez Ahmed (Hubaib). Eyewitnesses informed The Kashmiriyat that people from various parts of South Kashmir reached Quimoh to attend the funeral of the 18 year old slain. As soon as the body of slain reached his home, the army burst into intense pro independence and pro Pakistan slogans. 18 year old, Parvez had joined Militant ranks in July last year. A resident of Mokdampora in Quimoh, Parvez was a student of Government Higher Secondary school in Islamabad (Anantnag).

Army Organizes Free Medical Camp Under Sadbhavana in Khundru

February 10 The Indian Army on Sunday organized a medical camp at Khundru in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district. In a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, the Army said that in an endeavor to reach out to people from far flung remote areas and provide basic medical care and advise to the most underprivileged strata of the society 127 Lt AD Regt (Comp) under aegis of 619 (l) AD Bde conducted a Medical Camp in Khundru area on Sunday. They said, Doctors from PHC, Achabal and Medical Officer worked shoulder to shoulder for the benefit of needy civil populace. Lady Doctor specially saw women at the medical camp. The camp was inaugurated by Brigadier Amit Rao, Cdr, 619 (l) AD BDE who also interacted with the locals to strengthen goodwill between the Army and Locals....

Grenade Attack in Srinagar- 7 Troopers Injured

February 10 Firdous Qadri A grenade was lobbed by unknown pwrsoms on a CRPF party near Palladium lane at Lal Chowk in Jammu  Kashmir's Srinagar district on Sunday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that three CRPF personnel, four JK police personnel and four civilians have been injured in the attack. The area has been cordoned off by the Forces.

Police has ordered a probe after a video went viral in which few cops were beating a woman in a Shopian village. The video showing police men manhandling woman at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district has started doing rounds on social media since Sunday morning. February 10 At least ten boys have been picked up by Government Forces during the clashes that are going on near the encounter site in Kulgam's Kelam area on South Kashmir. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that during the intense stone throwing clashes at least 20 boys were arrested and then assaulted by the Government Forces. Two Lawyers Arrested in Srinagar for Preparing Fake Bail Documents for Thieves

February 02 The police have arrested two lawyers accused of making the fake bail bond of High Court for the bail of three vehicle thieves. This case came out in the year 2017. He concerned Officials said that the Registrar Judicial of the State High Court had complained in the written statement of the Police Station Shaheed Gunj in the year 2007 that fake bail documents were prepared for the bail of three persons allegedly involved in car theft. The police started the investigation by registering a case on the complaint.
