Former DC Srinagar, Farooq Shah, Secretary PHE Resign, Likely to Join NC

February 20 Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control & DMRRR, Farooq Ahmad Shah has applied for voluntary retirement from services and is likely to join National Conference. According to sources Shah applied to the retirement and has communicated same to higher authorities. ALSO READ: Professor Likely to Join Mainstream Politics to Protest Harassment by Forces Sources also confirmed that Shah is likely to join NC in coming days.

Pulwama Attack- 40 Including 2 Minors Arrested in South Kashmir

February 20 At least fourty people including two minors, have been detained by government forces during raids in Tral, Awantipora, Pampore and Khrew. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that various youth have been picked up during nocturnal raids from South Kashmir areas including Pampore, Tral, Awantipora. They said that two juveniles, 15 and 16 year old boy was picked up by forces during a noctunral raid in khasipora and Dadsara areas of South Kashmir's Tral Hamlet. A police official said the youth have been detained for questioning. Nocturnal raids and detentions have escalated post the Pulwama attack on CRPF in which at least 45 CRPF men were killed.

February 20 Amid Attacks on Kashmiris, dozens of Kashmiris living outside Kashmir came to the rescue of Kashmiris threatened in various places in India. Through, whatsapp groups and other social media platforms, Kashmiris working in various Indian states gathered support for Kashmiris who were being attacked and intimidated by mobs. Lubna Syed, who is a human rights activist in Delhi jumped immediately into action and created a whatsapp group, gathering possible support for Kashmiris. The group has sheltered more than two dozen Kashmiris in Delhi and other Indian states, she also arranged travelling and other facilities for Kashmiris who had been threatened to 'leave India'. Lubna, through her network also helped Kashmiris in Mumbai, Pune, Punjab and other Indian states. ...

India Pakistan Troops Exchanging Gunfire on LOC

February 19 Indian and Pakistani troops have started Firing at eachother on the Line of Control in Jhanger forward area of Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. Officials on the Indian side said, Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control at Jhanger forward area of Nowshera sector and later mortar shelling started. " Both small arms firing and mortar shelling is going on since an hour now," they said, adding that, firing is still going on.

February 19 Amita Singh, a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University,  has accused former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti of removing the barriers on the highway which led to killing of 49 CRPF men. Pakistan Seeks UN Intervention as Indo- Pak Tensions Escalate After Pulwama Attack

February 19 Pakistan has sought the urgent intervention of UN Secretary-General in defusing tensions with India and help facilitate dialogue between the two countries, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday, following one of the worst attacks in Kashmir that killed 40 CRPF soldiers. February 19 In Karnataka, a woman was arrested for writing "objectionable" posts on social media against the armed forces after the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans on February 14. Angry with the post, police said that the locals tried to burn down the woman's house. The incident took place in Kadabi Shivapur village on February 16. News agency ANI reported that her house was attacked after police arrested her for allegedly posting an objectionable post on social media. "She has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
