Woman Falls from Rooftop While Clearing Snow in Islamabad (anantnag) Area

February 07 Shah Tariq A woman fell down from her rooftop while clearing snow in Khundroo area of SOuth Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Zeba Akhter, 58, was clearing snow from her rooftop on Thursday when she fell down from her rooftop. The lady was injured and rushed to the District hospital in Islamabad (Anantnag). The lady is being treated at DH Islamabad (anantnag) where her condition is said to be stable.

400 Militants Active in Kashmir, Says Army

February 07 The Indian Army Thursday said that 450 militants were operating in Jammu Kashmir. They said that the infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC) was intact with the full support of Pakistan as 16 militant camps were operating in the neighbouring country and Pakistan administered Kashmir. “The number of militants is more on the north of Pir Panjal. Around 350 to 400 militants are active in the Kashmir valley. On the south of Pir Panjal (the Jammu region), there are 50 militants,” Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh told reporters in Udhampur. February 06 A Local Militant has been killed in a brief encounter between militants and Government forces at Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. February 06 An Encounter started between militants and Government forces at Chakoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by Militants during a cordon and search operation in the area. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area and the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two to three militants are trapped in a residential house in the area. A heavy exchange of fire was going on when this report being filed.

February 06 The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik led a protest rally in Srinagar demanding “immediate release of political prisoners”. Scores of pro Freedom activists led by Malik assembled at Abi Guzar in Srinagar and chanted pro Freedom slogans and demanded the release of political prisoners. He urged the united nation human rights commission to ask India for the release of all political prisoners.
