12 Injured as Boulder Hits a Vehicle on Srinagar- Jammu Highway

February 06 At least 12 passengers, including a woman, were injured after their vehicle was hit by a boulder along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, which had to be eventually closed for traffic on Wednesday following fresh snowfall and incessant rains, officials said. The Jammu-bound vehicle was hit by a shooting stone from a hillock overlooking the highway at Moumpassi-Ramsu in Ramban district late Tuesday evening, causing serious injuries to the woman, who is from Bihar, and minor injuries to 11 others, they said. Most of the injured were discharged after first aid, while the woman who has suffered head injuries, has been referred to the Government Medical College hospital Jammu, they said. Three Army Soldiers In Rifleman Auranzeb’s Killing Case

February 06 The Government Forces have detained three Army men for their role in the killing of slain soldier Aurangzeb in June last year. The three soldiers are being questioned, a report by Indian Express. Tawseef Ahmad, one of the three soldiers detained, was taken to hospital with multiple injuries after being assaulted, allegedly by RR personnel. He was hospitalized and later shifted to Srinagar for treatment. Tawseef was spotted by locals and was later rushed to the hospital. On June 14 last year, Aurangzeb was seen in a short video in a forest answering questions on his duties, postings and operations. Hours later, his dead body was recovered in Pulwama.

Burglars Loot Ten Houses in a Single Night at Larkipora

February 06 Waris Shah In a seemingly coordinated burglary, at least 10 households in south Kashmir Larkipora village in Islamabad (anantnag) district in night hours and decamped with valuables worth lakhs. The burglaries took place during intervening night of Tuesday-and wendesday, Locals said. Meanwhile police have registered a case and launched investigation into the incident.

Fresh Snowfall in Kashmir Leads to Disruption of Air Traffic- Highway Closed

February 06 Fresh snowfall in Kashmir Wednesday disrupted air traffic while the weathermen forecast inclement weather for 48 hours till Friday. Officials at the Srinagar Airport said that the snowfall has led to low visibility and as such Go Air flight stands cancelled for the day. They said that the persistent snowfall may lead to further disruption of air traffic at the airport today. “The visibility at the airport is only 800 metres.” Snowfall started in Srinagar valley Wednesday morning. While it has been snowing in valley, parts of Jammu have received heavy overnight rains. Meanwhile the highway connecting Srinagar with Jammu has also been blocked due to fresh snowfall in the area.

February 05 Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Hassan Sheikh today sealed seven unauthorised coaching/private tuition centres. Accompanied by Tehsildar kulgam and AD planning of CEO office, the team pulled down the banners and sealed the offices of these tuition centers with a stern warning to the owners to avoid operation of private tuition centers till all the formalities including registration are granted to them. February 05 The Government Forces raided various areas in South Kashmir's Pulwama District late night on Monday and arrested at least nine boys from the area. Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Government Forces late night on Monday broke into a few residential houses in Arigam, Arihal locality and arrested five boys from their houses. CASO Launched in Sangam Area

February 04 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces in Sangam area of South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday evening, the RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Naina Area of Sangam in South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) District. 191 Youth Joined Militant Ranks in 2018, Highest 59 From Pulwama

February 04 At least 191 local youths were recruited by various militant outfits in Jammu Kashmir in the year 2018. The new recruits mostly hailed from the restive south Kashmir region, as per a report carried out by PTI. 126 locals had joined the militant ranks in 2017, the report said. Most of the Militants hailed from South Kashmir districts - Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad (anantnag). An Army official said that Militant outfits Hizbul Mujahideen and the Lashker-e- Taiba have recruited most number of youth. He said out of the total 191 recruits, 139 alone hailed from south Kashmir. Army Camp Catches Fire in Shopian, 2 Soldiers Injured

February 04 Two army officers received burn injuries after fire broke out at army camp in Kathawhalan village of Shopian district on Saturday night. The injured were identified as Major A K Pandey and Major Anil Kandpal of 44 RR camp of Kathawhalan, reports said. Both soldiers were air lifted to 92 Base hospital at Badami Bagh for treatment, they added. The fire was soon brought under control and the cause of fire is believed to be an electric short circuit.
