CASO Launched by Forces in Tral Area

February 02 A cordon and search operation has been launched by Government Forces in Tral area of Pulwama District in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday, the 42 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Gulabagh Area of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. PDD Employees Ask People for 1 Lakh Bribe to Get Wire Removed

February 01 Two dead bodies have been recovered while one more was recovered injured at Gudkhamb point in Pahalgam. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that three persons were recovered, two of them dead while one was recovered in a injured condition under snow after a snow avalanche hit the area earlier in the day. The snow avalanche struck the Pahalgam-Aru road when it was being cleared of snow, at Gudkhamb point and the persons on board a JCB were swept away. February 01 Four persons on board a JCB are missing after a massive snow avalanche hit Aru Pahalagam area in Anantnag district on Friday. Reports said that while Pahalgam-Aru road was being cleared of snow, at Gudkhamb point snow avalanche struck the area and the persons on board a JCB were swept away. An official said that the rescue teams and machinery have been swiftly pressed into service to rescue the stuck persons.

Thieves steal cattle in Islamabad (anantnag) Village

February 01 Thieves stole eight cattle during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday in South Kashmir's Soaf Shali Area of Kokernag in Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Over 3 lakh worth of livestock has been stolen from the three cowsheds in Soaf Shali kokernag. Owners say that the thieves struck during night hours and fled away with the cattle including calves and cows. They appealed the police to act promptly against the thieves so that we can sleep without fear in future,”a local Resident said.

Two Minor Boys Injured in Pulwama Grenade Explosion

February 01 Two minor boys were injured when a grenade they were toying with went off in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Friday. Identified as Sharafat Bashir and Junaid Bilal, both 13, were fiddling with the explosive device when it went off near Rohama in Pulwama causing serious injuries to one of them. The duo were shifted to the nearby hospital from where they were shifted to district hospital Pulwama. Reports said the boys apparently found the grenade from the scene of an encounter at Drabgam, nearly five kilometers from spot where the explosive went off.

Srinagar- Jammu Highway Remains Closed

February 01 The Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed on Friday for the second consecutive day due to fresh snowfall and landslides, officials said. Traffic department officials said there has been fresh snowfall in the Banihal area, and landslides at some places in the Banihal-Ramban stretch of the road. “Around two feet snow accumulated on the road. Landslides have occurred at Anokhi Fall, Panthal and Kela Mode,” a traffic department official said. “No traffic movement will be allowed on the highway on Friday except for the stranded vehicles and that too, only after the road is cleared,” the official added. Inclement weather has led to the closure of the strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway this winter many times.
