Former DC Srinagar Joins National Conference

February 25 Former IAS officer and Commissioner secretary rank officer Farooq Ahamad Shah who recently left services entered mainstream politics and  joined National conference. Shah joined the party patron Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah along with other senior leaders. Shah formally joined the political party at NC headquarters in Srinagar.

Supreme Court to Hear Petition Challenging 35 A from Tomorrow

February 25 The Supreme Court from Tuesday will hear petitions challenging the validity of Article 35A - which gives the state government of Jammu & Kashmir the power to define "permanent citizens" and provide special rights to them. .The apex court will hear the petitions from February 26-28. Kulgam Encounter- Two Slain Militants identified as Locals

February 24 Three Militants have been killed in the encounter that raged between militants and Government forces at Turigam area in  South Kashmir’s Kulgam District on Sunday afternoon. Two out of the three have been identified as Locals. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after reeving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area. While conducting the Search Operation, the holed up Militants opened fire on the Forces, injuring three Army men including a Major. Kulgam Encounter- Injured Army man Succumbs

February 24 The death toll in the ongoing Kulgam Encounter has reached four as an injured army man has succumbed to his injures. Earlier, 34 RR of Indian army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had jointly launched an Anti Militancy operation in the area. During the gunfight, a Police official identified as Aman Thakur was killed and a major was injured along with two other soldiers of Indian Army. Among the injured soldiers, one succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. In the gunfight, two Militants have been also killed. Intense clashes also erupted around the encounter site between Youth and Government Forces, many youth also were injured. Meanwhile mobile Internet Service has been suspended in this South kashmir district.

February 24 Several protesters have been injured in the ongoing clashes in the ongoing clashes around the encounter site at Turigam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that several protesters were injured as forces fire tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesters.
