Clashes Erupt in Islamabad (anantnag) township Over Attacks on Kashmiri Students

February 23 Scores of youth hit the streets of Lal chowk in Islamabad (anantnag) township on saturday morning shouting pro freedom and anti india slogans. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that scores of youth on Saturday morning gathered at Lal chowk shouting slogans against the mobs attacking Kashmiris outside Kashmir. The youth also displayed photographs of a local youth who was thrashed in Chadigarh yesterday by unknown mob. India Repeating 90s in Kashmir, but They will Fail Again- Sajad Lone

February 23 The Chairman of people's Conference Sajad Lone has denounced the arrest spree in Kashmir in the aftermath of Deadly Pulwama attacks. Lone while cautioning the Government against the arrests said that India has tried such tactics in early 90's, but these models have failed earlier too. Akali Dal Activist Arrested for Trying to Hoist Indian Flag in Srinagar

February 23 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday morning detained a person after he tried to hoist tricolor at Srinagar's Lal chowk. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Deepak Sharma from Haryana, an affiliate of Akali Dal was detained by Police when he was trying to hoist an Indian tri colour flag in lal Chowk. Deepak has been shifted to nearby Kothibagh police station.

Residents of 27 Villages Along LOC asked to Vacate Houses

February 23 Residents of 27 villages along the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan have been asked to vacate. Media Reports said that residents of 27 villages in Nowshera sector of Jammu Kashmir’s Rajouri district have been asked to be ready to vacate at short notice after intermittent cross-border shelling on Wednesday and Thursday. The LoC has been tense and on a heightened state of alert since a car suicide bomber killed at least 45 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama on February 14. 100 Additional companies of Forces to be Deployed in Kashmir, Leaves of Officers Cancelled

February 23 The Central Government has ordered the deployment of 100 Additional companies pf Forces in Jammu Kashmir. An order issued by the ministry, has said that 100 companies of forces in Kashmir immediately. This includes 45 companies of CRPF, 35 Companies of BSF,  10 companies of SSB and ten companies of SSB. The officials have been asked to ensure the immediate deployment of these companies in Kashmir valley. Meanwhile the high rank officers of CRPF on leave have been asked to resume duties and their leaves have been cancelled. The exact reason of the deployment of additional troops could not be known immediately.

Nocturnal Raids Continue- Yasin Malik,11 Jama’at Activists, Dozens of Youth Arrested

February 23 Scores of People including Chairman of JKLF, Mohammed Yasin Malik have been arrested during raids in Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that nocturnal raids were conducted in various districts in South Kashmir in which at least 38 people were arrested. They said that nocturnal raids were conducted in Awantipora, Tral and parts of Zainapora in Shopian. The Chairman of JKLF, Yasin  Malik was detained during a raid at his house late night on Friday. Many prominent activists of Jama'at e Islami were also detained, the organization said. Nocturnal Raids have increased in Kashmir after a deadly attack on CRPF last thursday in which at least 45 CRPF men were killed.

Sopore Encounter- Locals find body parts of Slain Militants from debris of Damaged house

February 22 The scaterred body parts of two militants, slain in a gunfight with government forces, in Warpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the body parts of the Militants were found by locals from the debris of a damaged house on Friday evening. They said that few hours after the Forces left the encounter site, Locals thronged the encounter site, where thw body parts were found. Two Militant bodies had been recovered along with arms and ammunition by the Forces from the encounter site. February 22 Amid growing attacks on Kashmiris in various states of India in the aftermath of Deadly Pulwama attack which left at least 45 CRPF men dead, a Kashmiri student has been attacked by mobs in Chandigarh on Friday morning. February 22 A 28 year old youth has been missing from Jammu from the past week and there has been no trace of him since. Identified as Nazir Ahmed Zarger, a resident of Memander in South Kashmir's Shopian, he had left home for prayers on 09 February and has been missing since then. The family of Nazir while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said Nazir had moved to Jammu along with his father Mohammed Yusuf Zarger two months back.
