Government Imposes Ban on Disposable Items in Kashmir

March 27 State government on Wednesday banned use of disposable articles in the state. As per the order issued by the government all disposable articles including plastic tableware like plates, bowls, cups, knives and forks. The order issued by Department of Forest, Environment & Ecology reads “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 7 of the Jammu and Kashmir Non-Biodegradable Material (Management Handling & Disposal) Act. 2007, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. March 27 National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah questioned the BJP led Central government over its claims on air-strike conducted in Pakistan's Balakot. "If 300 people have died (in Balakot air strike), would there not be an international cry as to what has happened? And anybody who questions this, he is anti-national, he is a Pakistani," he said here. Farooq added that only a few trees and a pigeon was killed in the strike, not any Militant, as claimed by the Modi led Government. March 27 unknown persons on Wednesday fired at a civilian in the Kachdoora of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that gunmen fired upon a youth identified as Tanveer Ahmed in the Kachdoora area of Shopian after barging into his house.
