April 22 An Election Commission general observer, who was suspended for checking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter in Odisha’s Sambalpur in violation of norms for dealing with SPG protectees, has been sent back to Karnataka. He is a 1996 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre. The Commission had last week suspended its general observer for Sambalpur in Odisha for violating its instructions that SPG protectees should not be checked. April 22 Appealing the Jammu Kashmir Bank to allow them, if they are late to the exams, hundreds of aspirants appearing for PO examination of Jammu Kashmir Bank on Monday said that army stopped their vehicles on the highway to ensure the safe passage of their convoy vehicles. April 22 The Government of India has decided to deploy 300 additional companies of security forces for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls in the southern Kashmir spread over four districts. South Kashmir which has witnessed an escalation in Anti India protests after 2016 will be going to polls in three phases starting tomorrow, on Tuesday. Comprehensive and elaborate security measures will remain in place. Electoral officials say that in south Kashmir districts, there are more challenges on the security front compared to the northern or central districts of the Valley. April 21 The South Kashmir’s Islamabad (anantnag) district is going to polls first in the three-phased schedule for Anantnag Parliamentary constituency on April 23 from 7AM to 4 PM. The District is spread over 6 Assembly segments comprising Islamabad (Anantnag), Dooru, Kokernag, Shangus, Bijbehara and Pahalgam. This South Kashmir District has 529256 electors including 269603 males, 257540 females, 2102 service electors (2091 male and 11 female) and 11 transgender voters. April 21 The Hunger strike of the incarcerated Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front supporting Independence for Jammu Kashmir has entered day 11 in India's Tihar Jail A Press release by the JKLF said that the incarcerated and ailing chairman of JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik who is on a hunger strike at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RMLH) against the illegal and obnoxious attitude of NIA.
