IAS Officer Suspended for Checking Modi’s Chopper

April 22 An Election Commission general observer, who was suspended for checking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s helicopter in Odisha’s Sambalpur in violation of norms for dealing with SPG protectees, has been sent back to Karnataka. He is a 1996 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre. The Commission had last week suspended its general observer for Sambalpur in Odisha for violating its instructions that SPG protectees should not be checked. Mohammed Mohsin had tried to check some luggage in the convoy of the Prime Minister on Tuesday last. Modi had addressed a rally in Sambalpur on Tuesday. Grenade Attack on SSPs Office in Sopore- Search Operation Launched

April 22 Shabir Khan Unknown persons on Monday afternoon hurled a grenade towards the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. An official said the grenade was hurled at the office of  SSP Sopore near main gate town hall, but it missed the target and exploded outside the gate. However, there were no immediate reports of any injury or damage. Meanwhile, the government forces have cordoned off the area and a manhunt has been launched to nab to the attackers. Though the SSP of Police denied any attack having taken place saying that it was a mere firecracker.

April 22 Sri Lankan authorities have arrested 24 people from the minority Muslim community in connection with the multiple blasts that rocked the island nation on Sunday, killing over 290 people. A string of eight powerful blasts, including suicide attacks, struck churches and luxury hotels frequented by foreigners in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, killing over 290 people, including six Indians, and shattering a decade of peace in the island nation since the end of the brutal civil war with the LTTE. 30,000 Additional Troopers to be Deployed for Elections in South Kashmir

April 22 The Government of India has decided to deploy 300 additional companies of security forces for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls in the southern Kashmir spread over four districts. South Kashmir which has witnessed an escalation in Anti India protests after 2016 will be going to polls in three phases starting tomorrow, on Tuesday. Comprehensive and elaborate security measures will remain in place.
