At Least 21 Youth Arrested in Shopian Ahead of Elections

April 30 At least 21 persons have been arrested in pre-dawn raids in south Kashmir’s Shopian Area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Indian Army arrested four youths in south Kashmir’s Shopian district in pre-dawn raids on Tuesday. Zero Votes Polled Out of 10151 in 5 Areas of Kulgam District

April 29 Amid clashes and a low voter turnout in the South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday, seven areas of Kulgam district witnessed zero percent polling. The Wanpora, Shamsipora, Turk Tachloo, Khudwani, Bugam areas of Kulgam district witnessed a zero percent polling out of a total of 10151 total voters. In Shamsipora out of a total of 1578 voters, zero turned out for polling, Election officials informed The Kashmiriyat. Similarly they said zero votes were polled in Wanpora out of a total of 1606 voters. DSEK Orders Change in School Timing from 1 May

April 29 The directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) on Monday ordered change in the school timings from November 01. “Schools falling in the areas of Srinagar Municipal limits will be open from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm while the schools located outside the Srinagar municipal limits and other areas of the Kashmir province will remain functional from 9.30 am to 3:30 pm,” read an order of DSEK. The order said that the instructions shall be adhered to by all the institutions. “Any deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously,” reads the order.

Jaish Module Busted in Awantipora- Four OGWs Arrested

Man falls from a Tree in Anantnag, Dies

April 29 A man identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh son of Gull Mohammad Sheikh resident of Larkipora, Anantnag fell from a Poplar tree in Kuchipora village near Larkipora area of Islamabad (Ananatnag) on Monday afternoon. He was rushed to district hospital Islamabad (Anantnag) but succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital. Forces Launch CASO In Srinagar Area

April 29 One vote has been polled out of 2504 total votes in  the Uranhall area of Hom Shalibugh assembly segment of the Kulgam district in South Kashmir till 12 noon. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that out of 1059 votes in Uranhall-1 polling booth one vote has been cast, while in Uranhall-B, zero votes have been polled out of 768 and similarly in Uranhall C, zero votes have been cast out of total 768 votes. Meanwhile intense clashes also erupted in several areas of the district including Bugam, Khudwani, Redwani, Quimoh and other areas.
