Police rescue 50 bovines in Udhampur

May 03 Police Friday foiled two separate bids to smuggle over 50 bovines in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district even though the smugglers managed to flee, officials said. Police intercepted the suspected smugglers in Bharat Nagar and MH Chowk areas on the highway at Udhampur and rescued the animals, they said. A search was on to nab the suspects and a case has been registered, police said.

May 03 Suhail Dar The roadside vendors in the Islamabad (anantnag) township in South Kashmir have alleged that they were rounded up and thrashed by the officials of the Municipal committee of the Islamabad (anantnag) township. If Burqa is Banned, Then Ghunghat too Should Go, Says Javed Akhtar

May 03 Veteran lyricist and poet from India, Javed Akhtar on has said if a ban was imposed on Burqa, a ban should be imposed on Ghoongat (covering of the face by Hindu women) too. Javed said that he was not averse to enacting a law banning the burqa if it was accompanied with a similar action against the 'ghunghat' system prevalent among women in Rajasthan. May 03 Three Militants have been killed during an encounter between militants and Government forces at Adkhara area of Imam Sahab in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday morning 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area around 3:30 am.
