Pakistan Freezes the Assets of Jaish Chief Azhar Masood

May 03 Pakistan has issued an official order to freeze the assets of and impose a travel ban on JeM chief Masood Azhar after the UN declared him a “global terrorist”. Pakistan-based Azhar is also banned from selling or purchasing arms and ammunition. The UN sanctions committee on the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda on Wednesday announced the designation of Azhar, leader of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), over its ties to Al-Qaeda. The JeM has claimed responsibility for the Pulwama suicide attack that killed 40 CRPF soldiers and led to a spike in military tensions between India and Pakistan. Shopian- Clashes Erupt Near the Encounter Site

May 03 Clashes erupted as hundreds of youth hit the streets of Imam Sahab and its adjoining areas in South Kashmir's Shopian area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets early morning on Friday. The Forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed. Locals said that people from nearby areas are marching towards Adkhara in huge numbers. Meanwhile firing has stopped at the encounter site as two Militants are believed to be have been killed at the site, An official told The Kashmiriyat. May 03 Two Militants have been killed during an encounter between militants and Government forces at Adkhara area of Imam Sahab in South Kashmir’s Shopian District. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday morning 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area around 3:30 am. Civilian Shot at by Suspected Militants in Tral

May 03 unknown persons on Thursday evening fired at a civilian in the Kachmulla area of Tral belt in South Kashmir's Pulwama District injuring him. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that gunmen fired upon a man identified as Abdul Rashid alias Madan lal  of Kachmulla in Tral area, injuring him seriously. The Person was rushed to the Sub District Hospital in Tral in an injured condition. Meanwhile, a Local told The Kashmiriyat that Rashid is an activist of Bhartiya Janta Party. Section 144 Imposed in Shopian for a Month

May 02 The District Magistrate of Shopian today promulgated Sec. 144 Cr.P.C. in the district from 03 May 2019 for a period of one month. The order reads that, "No assembly of congregation shall be allowed without the prior permission of District Magistrate, Shopian, Duty Magistrates Subject to prior NOC from the concerned SP/SHOs of respective jurisdiction." The order also bans the use of fire arms or an article capable of being used as weapon of offence other than members of Government Forces.
