Man from Kulgam Dies, Coronavirus Death Toll In Jammu Kashmir Reaches 24

Danishwar Hameed The death toll due to Coronavirus in Jammu Kashmir has rose to 24 with the death of a man from Kulgam district of the Kashmir valley. Officials informed The Kashmiriyat that a man from the Khaloora area in Kulgam, was referred to a Srinagar hospital from GMC Islamabad (anantnag) yesterday, he breathed his last around 5:45 a.m. today. The sampling of the patient was done around 6:30 p.m. on Monday and it came out to be positive at 9:08 p.m on the same da, he passed away this morning. He has been identified as Ghulam Nabi Malik. The Covid 19 cases in India have crossed 1,45,380 on Tuesday, as per the data shared by the of Health and Family Welfare Ministry of India, out of these 4167 people have died, 80,722 are active cases, 60,490 COVID 19 cases have been cured or discharged. Mahrashtra at 52,667 cases remains the most affected state in India followed by Tamil Nadu at 17,082 cases and Gujarat at 14,460 cases. Meanwhile, The World Health Organization has suspended testing the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients due to safety concerns. On Monday, the son and wife of an advisor to the Jammu Kashmir lieutenant governor have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, officials said on Monday. The advisor to Lt Governor G C Murmu has gone into self-quarantine at the super-speciality hospital in Reasi district where his son and wife are being kept at an isolation ward, they said. The advisor's wife and son had returned from Delhi a few days back and were staying at a guest house. The results of their samples came on Sunday night and they had tested positive for the disease, theys said, The advisor's samples have been sent for testing.
