THe Chief of Indian Army, General M M Naravane on Friday made a quiet trip to Leh, the headquarters of the 14 Corps in Ladakh, to take a review of the security situation along the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC) amid rising tensions between with China. The General's visit comes at a time when troops of both countries are in a face-off in at least 4 areas along the LAC in Ladakh. Stories of pain and human emotions continue to emerge from the tragic crash of the PIA flight in Karachi, which killed a total of 97 people, it had 99 people onboard, on Friday, when it crashed, just two people survived. Five members the Polani family are among the victims of this air crash, Zain Polani — Yahya Polani’s nephew and younger son of Zikrya Polani — his wife Ms Shahida and three sons were travelling in the ill-fated PIA aircraft, Shahida was pursuing PhD in London and was residing there with her husband and children. 97 Killed, 2 Survive in Deadly Plane Crash in Pakistan

Investigators are combing through the wreckage at the scene of a deadly plane crash in Pakistan that occurred early Friday morning. An Airbus jet with nearly 100 people on board went down in a residential neighborhood in the city of Karachi — and at least two survived. It was a scene of horror as the Airbus, caught on security camera, crashed into the neighborhood. Rescuers found bank president Zafar Masood in the wreckage. Masood only suffered fractures. Fellow passenger Muhammad Zubair also survived. "The plane caught fire… I unfastened my seat belt and saw light," he said from his hospital bed. Aviation Authorities say the A320 aircraft, carrying 99  people, took off from Lahore and was about to land in Karachi when it lost both engines.

Live bomb Found in Kulgam, Defused

The Government forces on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in the Chawalgam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district, which was later defused. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the grenade was detected by paramilitary forces (CRPF) esrlt morning in the area, after which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed to the spot. The device was destroyed without causing any damage, CRPF Assistant Commandant , Gul Junaid Khan, said. He said that grenade was detected by a patrol party of 173 Battalion of CRPF in Chawalgam at morning hours, which was later successfully defused. "Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added.

26 Year old Man Commits Suicide in Dooru

Waris Shah A 26 yr old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his home at Nathipora village of Dooru in Islamabad (Anantnag) district of south Kashmir. "He was shifted to nearby Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” a Police official told The Kashmiriyat. After the completion of medical and legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family members for last rites, the official added. A police officer also confirmed to The Kashmiriyat and said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been initiated. (The Kashmiriyat)

A passenger plane belonging to state-run airline Pakistan International Airlines has crashed near the southern port city of Karachi, according to Abdul Sattar Kokhar, spokesperson for the country's civil aviation authority. There were no immediate reports on the number of casualties. The aircraft arriving from the eastern city of Lahore was carrying 99 passengers and eight crew members, Kokhar said.
