Encounter Rages in Kashmir’s Anantnag District

Waris Shah An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in Verinag forest area of Kashmir's Anantnag District. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly launched the Anti Militancy operation. The Encounter started when Militants fired on a patrolling party of Government forces near the forest area of Verinag in Islamabad (Anantnag) district. Earlier Forces including 19RR launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. The Inspector General of Police Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar Sunday said that the number of active militants in Kashmir is between 100 to 200 and 106 militants have been killed this year so far. He said that there may have been some successful infiltration bids as well this year so far.
