Encounter Rages in Kashmir’s Shopian

An Encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Bandpawa area in Imam Sahib area of Shopian  district on Thursday afternoon. A Security official told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 44 RR, CRPF and Shopian Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area. An official said that, after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, opened fire, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter. Sources said that two militants are believed to be trapped. An encounter is also going on in the Pulwama district where cellular networks have been snapped.

Shabir Khan A-22-year old youth was critically injured after a road opening party (ROP) of BSF hit him with a stick on his head in Ladoora area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir on Thursday. Jammu  Kashmir has witnessed a surge in Covid-19 deaths as seven people died of the deadly virus in the UT in the past 24 hours, health officials said on Thursday.
