Israel turned 15 mosques into Jewish synagogues, 17 others into bars, restaurants: Study

A study published by a High Follow-up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel has revealed that the Israeli authorities have turned 15 mosques into Jewish synagogues, Anadolu Agency reported. The study also showed that 40 mosques were either destroyed, closed, or abandoned, while 17 others were turned into barns, bars, restaurants, or museums. For example, the al-Ahmar Mosque in the northern town of Safed was turned into a concert hall, while al-Jadid Mosque in the city of Caesarea was turned into a bar, according to the study. On Tuesday, the Taliban declared a three-day ceasefire to observe Eid-ul-Adha peacefully, a change from the continuous violence seen over the recent weeks. British-Australian lecturer Kylie Moore-Gilbert, jailed in Iran for spying since 2018, has now been transferred to Tehran's Qarchak women's prison from the Evin Prison, reported a spokesperson for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Rayees Shah A woman sustained injuries after a wild bear attacked her while she was working in her fields at Arin village of Bandipora district on Wednesday. The injured has been identified as Sara Begum (36), wife of Muhammad Abdullah. The officials said that an 18-year-old girl (name withheld) hanged herself to death at her home in Azad Basti, Natipora area of Srinagar, on Tuesday. The Central Government on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that Mian Abdul Qayoom, advocate and President of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, will be released from detention immediately. Based on this submission by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the Centre, the court allowed his release, subject to the condition that Qayoom will remain in Delhi and not go to Kashmir till August 7 and that he will also not issue any public statements till then.
