NC Leaders Demand End to their “Illegal and Unlawful” Detention

At least 19 prominent leaders of National Conference remain under house detention in different parts of the Kashmir valley since August last year when the Government of India abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir, have sought immediate end to "illegal and unlawful" detention. As per reports, the leaders have also written to the Jammu Kashmir Principal Secretary (Home Department), urging him to lift the restrictions on their movement. Police Rescue 17-year-old Abducted Girl in Jammu

The police on Wednesday rescued a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted a week ago and arrested the accused from Jammu, officials said. The girl was allegedly abducted by a man, identified as named Amit Kumar (21), from Purkhoo and a case under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Kanachak Police Station on the complaint of her father on June 24, a police official said. Police teams raided various places over the past week and finally rescued the girl from a house on the outskirts of Jammu early on Wednesday morning. The accused was also arrested and further investigation is underway, the official said.

Three more Covid-19 positive patients died in Kashmir, taking the number of fatalities due to the disease in Jammu and Kashmir to 104, officials said on Wednesday. Two deaths were reported from CD Hospital while one from SKIMS Soura Hospital, the two patients who died at CD hospital include 75-year-old man from Sopore and 80-year-old man from Bibehara area of Islamabad (Anantnag) district, the officials said.
