Volleyball Tourney Conducted by Indian Army Concludes in Shopian

Sheikh Nadeem Hundreds of people on Thursday joined to watch the Grand finale of a volleyball tournament organized by the Army in the Shopian district in Kashmir. The Grand Finale of inter-District Volleyball Tournament an initiative by 44 RR of Indian Army was played in Ahagam village of Shopian. In the said tournament around 12 teams from different parts of Shopian participated with zeal and zest. In a press release  issued to The Kashmiriyat, the Indian Army has said that, "The Tournament was played on knock out mode with the participation of 12 teams from areas including Ahagam, Pirpora, Arihel and Marhang." Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the family of Amir Siraj who is a resident of Sopore area in this North Kashmir district, said that he has been missing since June 24. "Amir went missing on June 24 from his uncle’s home in Adipora, Sopore after he left the house to play a football match," one of his family member told The Kashmiriyat, adding that, the family has been trying to call him constantly, but his phone has been on switched off mode since. A 65-year-old man from Tarigam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district has died due to Novel Coronavirus at SKIMS, thus taking the death toll due to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir to 112, officials said on Thursday. Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS said that a 65-year-old man from Tarigam village of Kulgam, who was referred to SKIMS on June 23 from GMC Anantnag, died at the SKIMS at around 2:30 PM. He said the patient was referred to SKIMS in view of Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) with ARDS. Earlier in a day, four patients including a 73-year-old lady from Batamallo Srinagar, 75-year-old man from Budgam, 55-year-old man from Hatipora Kulgam and 65-year-old man from Sopore have also died in Kashmir due to COVID-19. 22-Year-old Woman Commits Suicide Two Days After her Marriage in UP

A 21-year-old newly married woman allegedly committed suicide at Kutesra village under Charthawal police station in the Muzaffar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh police said on Thursday. They said the woman, Neha, was found hanging from the ceiling in her room on Wednesday evening and apparently a suicide note was written on the mirror saying that her in-laws were innocent and not responsible for her death. Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination and investigation in the matter is going on, an official said. Neha had married Sachin, 22, on Monday. The incident came to light when she did not come out of her room and when her in-laws went to check on her she was found hanging from the ceiling, police said.
