NC Leaders Demand End to their “Illegal and Unlawful” Detention
At least 19 prominent leaders of National Conference remain under house detention in different parts of the Kashmir valley since August last year when the Government of India abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir, have sought immediate end to "illegal and unlawful" detention.
As per reports, the leaders have also written to the Jammu Kashmir Principal Secretary (Home Department), urging him to lift the restrictions on their movement.
Ali Mohammed Sagar, whose Public Safety Act was recently quashed by the Jammu Kashmir High Court, said that despite the court order, his movement has been restricted by the police.
The leaders included former ministers Mohammad Shafi Uri, Abdul Rehman Rather, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and Mubarak Gul.
