Qazi Shibli Released after 18 Days

Qazi Shibli, editor of The Kashmiriyat has been released after being arrested on the 31st of July, a day before Eid - Al- Adha. Shibli was summoned by the Cyber Cell and later detained at SherGhari Police Station, Srinagar, Kashmir. He was then shifted to Central Jail. Shibli's family confirmed that he has been released and on his way back home after 18 days under arrest. The Kashmiriyat team appreciates and thanks everyone for their solidarity and support.

Protest in Tral over Blasphemous Viral Video

Peaceful protest and rallies were held and organised by the locals of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu Kashmir earlier today over the viral video of a Sadhu instigating hate - speech and blasphemous remarks over the Muslim community and their belief in Prophet Muhammad.   Protests and large gatherings in this pandemic without precautionary measures can be fatal and worrisome for the civilians. Social distancing was not maintained but most of the protesters were wearing masks while some of them did not. The fact that the protests are happening in the middle of the lockdown of this pandemic raises certain issues regarding the out break of the virus, but also highlighted the issue of blasphemy that may disrupt the communal harmony in Jammu Kashmir. Amid strict shutdown, massive protests are taking place in Chenab valley against blasphemous remarks of a self - proclaimed ‘Sadhu’. People in large numbers staged a protest, early Monday morning on the highway town of Banihal, Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir to demand action against a self-styled guru and others responsible for posting a derogatory video. Some civilians who took the road to protest were not practicing social distancing and the guidelines given to avoid the out break of the virus in the pandemic. At around 8:30 am hundreds of shopkeepers and people from adjoining villages gathered to carry out a protest march in response of the blasphemous video. Update- 2 CRPF Men,1 SPO Killed after Militant Attack in Baramulla

Militants attacked a police party at Kreeri Area of Baramulla district. According to sources, an SPO has been killed and 2 CRPF personnel succumbed to their injuries and died after the shootout incident. The SPO has been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad and the two CRPF men have been identified as Lokas Sharma and Driver Khursheed khan. The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Lockdown Update: Markets to Reopen in Srinagar Today from 11 AM to 5 PM

The District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Chowdhary in an order issued on 4.08.2020, has lifted restrictions on markets and public transport in Srinagar allowing regulated resumption. This decision comes after careful consideration and deliberations. The order permits the reopening of 50% of shops and boarding of 50% of passengers in public transport. Market associations will prepare a roster so that alternate shops will open to prevent crowding. The District Magistrate said that he has full faith in the business and trading communities to follow the guidelines and SOPs.

The Security forces, today, claimed to have averted a major tragedy after they detected an IED in Central Kashmir's Budgam district. Talking to media persons, a senior police officer said that an IED was planted by militants under a bridge near Tujan village in Budgam district. The bridge connects Tujan and Dalwan. He, further said that a major tragedy was averted.
