CRPF Organizes Volleyball Tournament in Sopore

As a part of Civic Action Programme, Volleyball tournament organized by CRPF 179 Battalion at College Ground Sopore, North Kashmir in Baramulla was concluded today. In an official press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, CRPF said that the tournament was organised under the supervision of Commandant CRPF 179th Battalion, Rabish Kumar. Arun kumar 147 BN was the chief guest on the concluding day. The team of Krankshivan Sopore won the Volleyball Tourney by defeating its CRPF 179 BN in the final match . Week-Long Lockdown to Start in Ganderbal Tomorrow

In view of continuous surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Ganderbal for the past few days, there will be a complete lockdown in the district for a week except for medical emergencies and essential services. Shafqat Iqbal(KAS), District Magistrate Ganderbal, on Friday has issued an order imposing complete lockdown in the district from 29th August to 5th September to break the further transmission of COVID-19. According to the order, lockdown is being imposed in the district to restrict the unnecessary movements of the public in the markets and to curb violation of SOPs and advisories. Update- Four Militants Killed in Shopian Encounter

Mir Irfan Four Militants have been killed in the encounter that broke out between government forces and militants in the Kiloora area of of Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the area by a joint team of forces including Army’s 44RR, CRPF and JK police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the Kiloora area. He said that after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, they opened fire which was retaliated, this triggering an encounter. The official said that during the gunfight four Militants have been killed, who are yet to be identified. Encounter Rages in Shopian Kashmir

A Gunfight has raged between militants and government forces in Kilora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday afternoon. Sources told The Ksshmiriyat that a joint team of Army’s 44 RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Kilora area of Shopian on Friday. As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. A senior police officer upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
