Motorcyclist Killed in Pahalgam Accident

An accident happened in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district when a motorcycle collided with a load carrier. According to official sources, the motorcyclist died on the spot after a collision between load carrier (JK03E-2644) and motorcycle (JK03-0554) took place near Tool Plaza Pahalgam. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh of Laripora Pahalgam.

The United States (US) draft resolution on the extension of the arms embargo against Iran failed as Russia and China vetoed during the UN Security Council (UNSC) session on Friday. The current weapons ban on Iran is set to expire in October as a part of a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. JK Police to Receive 81 Gallantry Awards this Year

The JK police will be awarded the highest number of gallantry medals this year. Out of 215 gallantry medals to be awarded, the JKPolice will receive 81 for their operations in Kashmir and the CRPF will be conferred 55 medals for their operations in Kashmir, Chattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Jointly, the two forces, JKPolice and CRPF, will bag 123 gallantry medals from Jammu Kashmir. Two IPS officers, Vidhi Kumar Birdi and Tejinder Singh have been conferred the Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG) from Jammu Kashmir. Vidhi was DIG North Kashmir and Tejinder Singh was SP Pulwama, before they joined NIA, earlier this year. Naresh Kumar, CRPF Assistant Commander, will receive his 7th PMG this year. An army solider, reportedly, committed suicide in Rangreth area of Budgam District, today, with his service rifle. He has been identified as Lance Naik Omprakash. The reason for this extreme step could not be asserted immediately. A police official, while confirming the incident said that a case has been filed and investigation started.
